“ARGH!” the primal scream was followed by kicks of his legs, shoving his blankets off of him. He ruffled his hair furiously as he sat up and paused, taking deep breaths. He usually didn’t mind staying home without doing anything. Sure, he liked going out and parties, hanging out with his friends, etc. But staying home was usually also welcomed. Except this time, he felt restless. He wanted to do something, but didn’t feel like doing anything either. It was quite frustrating.

Maybe he could convince one of his roommates to spend some time with him until he could get his head out of this weird state of mind. So, he left his room to search for them, only to find that none of them were currently home. He sighed, but reached into the pocket of his pj pants to grab his phone and pulled up his list of contacts before tapping one and starting to type.

      the lunar new years was one of dorian’s favorite days in the calendar year. the rest of the month wasn’t exactly his favorite. a week and a half following celebrations was a national holiday back when he lived in the states. raised overseas, thinking of this month as ‘the month of love’ was a guaranteed assumption. the air is still brisk but spring is bound to come soon enough. though with all that still, how fast the month ran by made dorian dread it just the slightest. on top of that, some ghost lingered as his mom took her life in the second week of february.

      international girls were delusional by valentine’s day, even as kids or teenagers. so as much as dorian today could forgive the holiday, he didn’t favor it. he thought to himself, does he feel colder at soojin’s sudden claim because it’s the start of february? the bit of warmth it comes with counters with a tinge of bitterness. he knew soojin as his ex-girlfriend and best friend at the same time. and despite being caught off guard, he responds appropriately, to his definition.

      “yeah? i loved you too.”

her emotions towards dorian was probably a mess. they had broken up a while ago but they still hung out with each other as best friends. honestly, she wasn’t sure how she felt towards dorian. if someone asks her to be honest on how she felt towards him, she would respond that she felt safe and happy around him. if she had a second chance, she would date him again. however, she really didn’t know what to expect, or more so why she had blurted out that she loves him. maybe it was to mask the fact that she did love him, not as a friend but more than that. 

‘loved?’ 

for some odd reason, she really wasn’t expecting that as an answer. maybe she was expecting something else, like ‘i love you too.’ maybe it would have been better if the word he used wasn’t past tense. oh how she wished that he didn’t used that word as a past tense. now she felt a bit awkward for saying that she loves him. she clears her throat quietly, laughing nervously afterwards. “oh.. well... i guess you’re right...”

she tries her best to not sound sad or upset. however, she knew that it would be a lie but it might be better for her to just say it too as well. “i loved you too... i guess..”

with alcohol running through his veins, seungwoo always gets a little (well, a lot) more brazen than he really should be. this is why he rarely drinks in excess – seungwoo knows just how detrimental it can be, losing his mind and acting outside the confines of his rationality. tonight had been a special occasion, however. he’d hit a new milestone in his subscriber count on his youtube channel, and decided to go out with dorian to celebrate. now stumbling alongside his friend in the dark, though, his mind sparks with a kind of mischief not usually found within him.

“come on,” seungwoo edges closer to the abandoned building. “it’s probably just… all… rubble and shit,” he tries peering through the broken windows, but it’s pitch black inside. “i–” he hiccoughs, throwing dorian a challenging look. “i dare you.” he lumbers back over to his friend, throwing an arm over his shoulder. “come on. we’ll rock-paper-scissors it.” he raises his eyebrows. “the loser has to go in and stay in for 5 minutes. with no light on.”
