Tsukishima has your initials engraved into his sports glasses so that you’re close to him during every game. He has them engraved on every single pair that he owns.
Atsumu won’t stop talking about you during every single one of his interviews. He always finds a way to bring the topic back to you. “What are some important rituals you perform before every game, Miya-san?” “Eat a good meal, do my stretches, and get a kiss from y/n!”
Ushijima makes sure to only accept sponsors from all of your favorite brands so that he can get you free merchandise. Don’t even bother asking him why he’s in a commercial for Potato Chips when he doesn’t look like he’s touched a bag in his life. It’s because they offered to give you limited edition flavors.
Iwaizumi loved letting you borrow his clothes, bc when you returned them, they always smelled of your perfume. Iwaizumi doesn’t admit that he sends hours inhaling your scent, avoiding washing his clothes so he could be surrounded by you. But when you stopped giving his clothes back (sigh), iwaizumi resorts to keeping a bottle of your perfume in his room, and sprays it whenever he misses you
Sakusa moved in with you after one week of dating. He literally showed up once, and then never left. He’s there when you wake up, and he’s there when you go to sleep. You haven’t spent one single night apart since making it official. Sakusa tried going on a boys trip once and literally called you to pick him up from the train station just four hours in. He’s not going anywhere.
Kageyama brings items of your clothing with him to away games. Whichever he can get his hands on — a shirt, shorts, a sweater, whatever. You nearly had a heard attack when you were helping him unpack and you found underwear. It took you a few seconds to realize it was yours.
Suna got your name tattooed on him. He may have been drunk, and it may have been on a dare, but he displays this tattoo proudly. He hates when people ask “well, what if you guys break up?” as if Suna would be dumb enough to ever let that happen.

⊱• A/N: He later realized that it had been Valentine’s Day(...). His son, Sakusa Kaoru…had brought home bags of Valentine’s chocolate. Kiyoomi wasn’t sure if he should be happy or afraid.
"First step," Kaoru announced to this father, rolling up Kiyoomi's sleeves, "Is to wash your hands thoroughly… I need you to help me knead the dough…."
His face was all serious, he was talking slowly, and his eyes grew wide as he explained the planned steps. Sakusa Kaoru, six years old, was a man with a plan. Kiyoomi should have seen it coming. Last month, his first-grader had come home from school with boxes and boxes of chocolates.
He later realized that it had been Valentine's Day when he received a homemade chocolate cake from you later that evening. Halfway through his third slice and a mental note not telling his nutritionist about this, he realized it. His son, Sakusa Kaoru…had brought home bags of Valentine's chocolate. Kiyoomi wasn't sure if he should be happy or afraid.
Sign of the times, he guessed, another form of growing pains.
"Tou-chan?" Kaoru tugged at the apron he had put on, "Are you here with me? I need your full attention… I mean, I could technically do it by myself…but Kaa-chan said kids are not allowed to do anything in the kitchen alone, and I don't want to get on her bad side…."
Smart Boy. He himself learned never to get on your wrong side. That his son had known that at the wee age of six made him think Kaoru would go far.
"Ready when you are Kid…so what shall I do?" Sakusa asked, smiling as Chef Kaoru moved up on the step stool to get better access to the ingredients already prepped and measured by you before you left. "First, we need to preheat the oven to 180 °C……yeah, like that…."
Kaoru squinted, watching Kiyoomi set the oven numbers, making sure his athlete father remembered his numbers. He did, turns out, that his university degree was actually worth something.
"Next we need to mix the butter and the sugar……both brown and white one… it's more delicious when we have two kinds," he said and pointed towards the ingredients, eyes sparkling. Sakusa realized, with slight amusement, that his son took a pause, gulping down the water in his mouth.
"Is this mom's cookie recipe?" he asked, inquiring.
As Kaoru nodded, he too started to salivate at the thought of those delicious treats you made. Luckily, this time around, the V-League season was over, so his nutritionist was more forgiving if he stole one, two, or ten of these.
“No, touuu-chaaaan these are for….” Kaoru reading his father's expression, started and paused, a hint of fear on his face. Kiyoomi realized he had almost slipped up, letting him know who the cookies' mysterious person was intended for. Kaoru cleared his throat. "These are mine to gift….if you want to give mom a White Day gift, you have to make your own stuff…."
"Got it buddy," Sakusa let out a laugh at his annoyed grumble and ruffled through his son's curly hair, smiling fondly at him continuing to mirror a very disgruntled angry kitten before he preheated the oven for him.
Kaoru, a master baker who's helped you bake plenty of times under supervision, was very comfortable handling the hand mixer alone, so Kiyoomi only supervised.
Kaoru's face was concentrated on the creamy structure. A small line had appeared in the middle of his brows, and the tip of his tongue peeked out from the corner of his mouth before he spoke up again.
"Tou-chan can you add the egg and the Vanilla, why I continue mixing."
"Yes, I surely can, Kaoru," he hummed, adding the ingredients, and saw his mini-me nod in approval. Sakusa Kiyoomi, wing spiker for the MSBY Jackals, cracked an egg and added vanilla to some butter and sugar. "The flour too? Do you need to add baking soda?"
"Kaa-san already prepped it before she went to her doctor's appointment," Kaoru informed him, "If you could, please sift it spoon by spoon ohhh also the white chocolate chips."
As he finished talking, the tiny tip of his tongue appeared again. Ten minutes later, the dough was resting, and Sakusa cleaned up.
At the same time, Kaoru prepped the baking trays, taste-tested, and decided on the sprinkles they would use. He apparently decided on the pink, white and red hearts instead of the rainbow-colored ones.
They hand-rolled the dough into small balls and placed them on four baking trays with spaces in between. They washed hands since the dough had made them sticky, and Kiyoomi took over cleaning the bowl while Kaoru started sprinkling the cookies with the hearts.
Kaoru was done with two trays as Kiyoomi cleaned and helped him put the trays in the oven.
"Say Tou-chan…" Kaoru spoke up after putting more of the sprinkles in the bowl, "How did you know you were in love with Kaa-san?
Oh, shit. Sakusa thought, hearing sirens in the back of his mind, alarms going off. All loudly screeching and red.
He was going to have the talk with his son…well, not that talk but like A talk…about emotions. Really, his son was getting too old too quickly. A sign of the times, he guessed.
"Hmm," Kiyoomi murmured, giving himself some time while he got out a glass, a grape juice box, and the bottle of red that was unopened from the fridge. "Well…. I took some time, to be honest…."
He poured himself a glass and shoved the juice box over to Kaoru. Both took a sip and sighed.
"Hmmm, grape, my favorite flavor," Kaoru hummed.
"Hmm, fermented grape, my favorite flavor," Kiyoomi agreed in his head.
"Why did it take time," Kaoru asked, slurping away, and Kiyoomi took a second to realize he was picking up the previous conversation from before. "Like wasn't it like love at first sight? Like in those movies, Maya-nee likes to watch?"
Oh yeah, Maya and her teen rom-com….his eldest child wasn't even a teen yet. Still, ever since she started Middle-School, those titles, vampires vs. werewolves ( the werewolf is clearly superior) and giggles over the phone with her friends, became more frequent. Another sign of the times.
"Well Kaoru, those are movies," Kiyoomi explained, "You surely can like a person at first sight….but to love someone it takes time. You fall in love with little things, the way they smile, how they help strangers on the street. How they hug you…how they smell…how they are there for you on rainy days."
He reminisced about the two of you. Every little thought of you and him through all the year. He wasn't entirely truthful.
There was love at first sight, but love had different forms. Love, at first sight, existed too, he recalled. Two little bundles, screaming, as time stood still for a moment when they came into the world. Kaoru might understand that one day if he decided to have his own kids.
"So…like rainy days when someone shares their umbrella with you? Or like jumps into puddles for you because you don't want to get your stuff dirty but you were dared to do so?" Kaoru said, suddenly excited.
"Kaoru…did someone dare you to jump into a puddle?"
"Naa, that was ages ago."
Not very convincing, the concept of time hasn't clicked in Kaoru's mind. Sometimes yesterday was still this morning, sometimes it was three weeks ago.
"…and it was muddy, so I didn't want to do it…so she did it for me…so I like that about her…" he confessed, the juice distracting him, so he started babbling.
It was a trick he used on you sometimes when you were too reluctant to speak what was bothering you. Put a bowl of snacks or something to drink in front of you, and you'd chat away.
"I like how she laughs, her ideas are super fun, like when we play on the yard she always has the best adventure ideas and her pirate voice is really cool.Oh, she also beats up the boys who mock my curls and say they are girly. Oh, oh and also when they mock my art and crafts." Kaoru sighed.
Kaoru was soft. Sakusa and you both knew, preferred not to play too rough, and had an artistic streak. In Kaoru's first year, his kindergarten teacher once told him that she had never seen a young kid not color outside the lines. Yes, Kiyoomi went out and bought his son 5 new coloring books, much to his son's glee.
Kaoru continued his rant, "And she helps me with my spelling…well we both aren't very good at it…also when we pick teams in gym class she makes sure to pick me first."
"Sounds like an awesome girl…you should introduce me sometimes to her," Sakusa chuckled behind his glass and sipped.
"No," Kaoru said in disgust, "That would be embarrassing…sorry Tou-chan but no…."
Sakusa Kaoru was interrupted by some keys turning in the door. His sister arrived from her after-school club, murmuring a tadaimaa as her keys jingled.
"Okairii," both Sakusa men answered and watched as Sakusa Maya came shuffled into the kitchen, Curly hair tossed into a ponytail, dressed in the lilac of the Itachiyama Middle School Volleyball Club's tracksuit.
"Ohhh, I thought I smelled Mom's cookies…." she said, bending up to plant a kiss on her father's cheek. It tugged at his already molten heartstrings, made Kiyoomi warm and fuzzy to see that his daughter still did this.
Maya, almost 12, was taking after her father in height. His little girl had grown quite a lot towered over her classmates in the past year. However, she was still his little girl deep inside, despite the growing pains.
She rested her head into her dad's side, enjoying him patting her cheeks
then proceeded to reach out and ruffled her brother's hair, "Is that for White Day?"
Kaoru complained about his sister's rough treatment, muttering something to hide the fact he was blushing.
Maya tossed her sports bag into the general direction of the laundry room and stretched, "Where is Kaa-chan… I thought you wanted to bake with her."
"At the doctors…." Kaoru answered, pouting, "But Tou-chan helped me instead…he is doing a decent job."
"Well…good on Touchan!" Maya smiled, "I hope Kaa-chan will feel better soon, she has had an upset stomach for weeks now……so did she per chance cook something before she left? Practice was draining and I am starving."
"No, she had not," Kiyoomi replied, "But I could quickly whip up something."
Maya and Kaoru shared a glance, silent sibling communication Kiyoomi was not a part of was shared, and Maya somehow lost. She turned her eyes to him, used a sweet tone she used whenever she wanted to have the remote in the evening, and asked, "Could we order some take out? Pleeeease?"
How could he say no to her when she looked at him like this. His will crumbled, "Okay…fine…."
"Yay!!" both children happily high-fived, and Maya snatched one cookie from the tray that was fresh out of the oven.
"Hey!" Kaoru complained. Maya flicked his nose and said, "Since these are for your little crush…and I am a girl, I am the taste tester….these are awful…."
She said and took two more, "So bad that I need two more…:"
"Maya-nee no fair."
"What are you gonna do about it Germ?"
"Put them back!"
Maya smugly smiled at her brother and licked the two cookies, "You want me to put them back?"
"Ewww nooo…" Kaoru pouted, and Maya laughed, taking her brother in her arms and squishing his face, "Awww, my cute little Germ, Bacillus Kaoru's Ineptus Maximus."
"Maya…" Kiyoomi sighed, "Maya, we don't make up microbe names for of our family members…."
"Okay…" she said and stopped pressing kisses on Kaoru's cheeks while he complained about cooties. "I'm going to go take a shower…."
Maya planted another kiss on her brother's cheek then pinched his elbow, to which the six-year-old complained. Kiyoomi smiled, telling her off half-heartedly, and checked on Kaoru and his war wounds.
They put the cookies in the pretty box you had bought and prepared beforehand. Kaoru seemed very satisfied with his work. Honestly, Kiyoomi had to agree with his son's statement that these were the best cookies ever made in the Sakusa household.
"What about mom's?" he inquired, and his son corrected himself, "By men…the best cookies made by men."
"So…do you want to add a nice note to the gift, Kao-chan?" Sakusa mused, and his son's eyes lit up.
"That's a cool idea… I'll go get the craft supplies….do you want to make a card for mom too?"
"Only if you help me….I am not the best crafter."
"I know tou-chan… I'll help you."
Kiyoomi was humbled soon enough by his primary school kid at his attempt of cutting a semi-heart-shaped thing out of the glittery cardboard. He glued it on some cardboard that he folded, heavily side-eyed by Kaoru.
"It's crooked…." he commented, then smiled, "But nice effort…I think mom will see you but all your hard work into it…."
Kaoru had also just finished his card. He had first sketched it on some paper before he crafted it and was smiling to himself. "I hope she'll like it…."
They heard Maya come out of the bathroom from her shower, hair plopped up in a large cotton t-shirt.
"Did you take time to put in your conditioner, sweetheart?" Kiyoomi asked. Her curls were too beautiful not to take proper care of them.
"Yes," she hummed and looked over the cards, "These look….nice….um can I have more cookies?"
"You know no snacks before dinner…it should be here any moment."
"Yeah, but that rule is when kaa-san is here…."
"Your Kaa-san knows everything and will know everything."
Maya sighed, plopping onto the sofa, and started talking to her dad about the upcoming practice match against the Nekoma Middle School's girls team when Kaoru suddenly declared that he was finished.
"Maya-nee I need help with my card," he asked, "With the spelling and stuff."
"Ask tou-chan am too tired…."
"Noo, it can't be tou-chan….I," Kaoru grumbled, getting up since he was getting pink, "I'll just do it myself."
Kiyoomi and Maya watched as Kaoru got up. He swiftly shuffled over to the corner of the living room that still was transformed into a pillow fort from when Uncle Toya had come to visit before Christmas.
You and Kiyoomi had to go and buy more pillows and blankets since Komori and the kids had used all the ones in your living room, additionally to the blinking Christmas lights that Kaoru had put on. Kiyoomi, of course, went all out in Ikea send Motoya the bill for the new stuff.
Kaoru sat down, grunted, nodded, and closed the make-shift door to the fort, a cuddly grey fleece blanket with a sign that had a small caricature of Kiyoomi on it and stated.
No duds ale owed
Yeah, Kaoru really had to work on his spelling. Maya was allowed to check Kaoru's card, commented snarlingly to her father that her brother was a poet, and set the coffee table for the food. The Sakusas ate dinner, and all three of them prepped Bentos for the next day.
Kiyoomi also clued his kids in on his gift for you, showing them the velvet box and asking them to help him with the note. They were in the mid of putting in a sweetheart-shaped message for you to see on the next day when you came back home.
Three curly heads whipped around, scrambling as if caught with their hands in the cookie jar (okay, maybe that was also true), and Maya quick-witted as she was decided to distract you.
"Kaa-san, welcome home… I need you to look at this thing I have on my back."
"Maya…is this about your mole again?" you chuckled and obliged because you had obviously not seen the big heart-themed gift bag behind Kiyoomi's back.
It got late after you put the kids in bed when you joined your husband.
Kaoru was so excited about the next day he took a long time to actually fall asleep, asking you for glasses of water, then needing to get up to use the bathroom.
"Our baby boy is a big kid now…." Kiyoomi said softly as you got into bed, pulling you in softly kissing your temple.
"He has to be… Kiyoomi, he is six years old," you chuckled, leaning into his touch, now that he smelled like the spearmint from his toothpaste. Luckily, the scent of fermented grapes was nauseating.
"He is just adorable…wonder how long his little crush will last…."
"Little crush?" you chuckled, leaning into his touch, his fingers ghosting on your belly, a little timid. "You know Kaoru has liked her since his first year in kindergarten…."
"So its a long time crush? How sweet…childhood friends…did they meet in kindergarten?"
"Kiyoomi… they've known each other since they were younger? Did you have too much wine?"
"Wait…you know that mystery girl?"
"I do, "you chuckled, kissing his cheek before turning your back to him so he can put his over your hip, "And I think it's mutual…Akane has a crush on him too…."
"Ah that's sweet," Kiyoomi nodded sleepily, now daring to brush his hands over the small bump that had just started to show, "How was the doctor appointment?"
"I got something against the morning sickness…" you murmured sleepily, "I hope it helps…."
"We have to tell the kids soon…." Kiyoomi murmured and pulled you into his chest. "Maya is getting suspicious…."
"Soon," you agreed, eyes fluttering, drifting off to sleep.
Kiyoomi and your breathing started to synchronize in harmony. The warmth of his body next to you, soothing you from the hectic day you had. He faintly smelled the cookie dough, but you thought it might be your daughter's shower gel he often stole without admitting it.
The room was silent, dreams awaited…until…
"Wait…Akane?" Kiyoomi's eyes suddenly opened and widened in horror. "MIYA AKANE???"
Ah yes, growing pains.

SAKUSA KIYOOMI— sleeps with his room literally fucking freezing. the air conditioning on + a fan full swing in his room. usually sleeps in full pajama sets as well. quietly snores and usually moves away from you while he sleeps, always ends up coming back tho
MASTUKAWA ISSEI— sleeps either shirtless in pajama pants or with a t-shirt and boxers. and he is an arm swinger + snores loudly so have fun with that <3. also a human heater!!! you literally have to push him off of you at times because you’re sweating.
MEIAN SHUGO— also a loud snorer, like loud as shit. you sleep on the couch multiple times a week and he always follows you because he doesn’t like sleeping alone hmph. sleeps shirtless with boxers and likes to wrap his arms around you and pull you flush against his chest.
ARAN OJIRO— literally an angel. sleeps in a t-shirt and sweats and his room is always the perfect temperature, making you both sleep like literal babies. he’s also a quiet sleeper, no snoring and stays in one position majority of the night, usually beside you!
MIYA ATSUMU— he sleep talks. and it’s usually continued arguments with osamu that never got finished when he was conscious. it scares you too because you’ll be dead sleep and he’ll mention something about how he had a right to take samu’s last ongiri because he pushed him into the volleyball cart earlier. and he doesn’t have a headboard >:(
BOKUTO KŌTARŌ— loves to cuddle you, and he’s the little spoon when you two sleep because he loves being held by you!!! sleeps with a fan on so it’s not too hot or too cold and he wears mix match pajama sets to bed as well.
KUROO TETSURŌ— sleeps with water on his bedside table and it’s entirely too hot in his bedroom. so he sleeps with just boxers and socks <3. also a snorer and what makes it worse is that he snores in your ear and it’s annoying but you put up with it each and every night.
TERUSHIMA YŪUJI— he sleeps completely naked, i’m not elaborating on this. also one of those boys that has the blue sheets and flat pillows + no headboard i’m sorry it has to be said. (you upgraded his room though so he now has fluffy pillows and 800 thread count sheets). sleeps wild but he doesn’t snore so it’s not that hard to manage tbh.
TENDOU SATORI— wears the matching onesies you bought a couple of months back during one of your date nights to bed. or he wears tacky pajama sets lol it’s the cutest shit ever. likes to nuzzle his head into your neck but he’s a drooler so watch out. you two also wake up in the weirdest positions.
SUNA RINTAROU— his room has blackout curtains for sleeping reasons and he’s an avid wearer of wearing pajama pants with no shirt on. very comfortable sheets and comforters so you’re always cozy but he has a childish ass headboard so it cancels out :(
author’s note: hi bffs i’m in a good mood to write again :) so enjoy this mwah. also!! reblogs help me a lot and are appreciated </3!
anything special to declare? nope! just some good ol’ fluff <3
a/n: hello, yes, it’s me. i’m back <3 watch me dip again after this for a while tho lmao
ʚ ATSUMU : there are three stages he goes through: 1) “what are you doing?”; 2) “why?”; 3) he gets all smug for a second but then he turns all shy about it. he’ll mumble something along the lines of “‘s too early for this,” before he looks at you again with a flustered expression. his eyes scan your face before he becomes even more flustered and turns away, only one thought swimming through his head: why were you looking at him as if he was the best person in the world?
ʚ KUROO : he’s so half-asleep he probably doesn’t even register it at first. it’s kind of funny to see how his eyelids are slowly drifting closed while he tries to keep them open to stare back at you. he pokes you while saying, “stop staring.” he gets so giggly about it when he sees you smile. like, he’s genuinely confused about it but he’s seeing you smile so he must be doing something right. he does think it’d be nice to know why you have such a lovestruck expression on your face, though.
ʚ SUNA : he doesn’t even notice at first. man just turns around before drifting off to sleep again, only to wake up in about a minute once he realizes that you were staring. which leads to a very confused suna and the words “was there anything special today?” tumbling out of his mouth as he slightly panics. he’s mostly worried because he knows that he remembers every special event you two have, but he’s far too sleepy to properly recall any at the moment. but his worries simmer down and soon a warm feeling spreads instead. because even in his sleepy state he can recognize the love swirling in your eyes.
ʚ OIKAWA : he woke up thinking he was late for practice only to remember it was a saturday and that he’d be spending the day with you. he yelps when he sees you staring because he swore you’d be asleep. he’s quick to recover though, because he’s soon teasing you with, “i bet you wanted to wake up to a special sight.” but he quickly shuts up when he sees a smile grow on your lips. he blushes when he hears the affection in the soft “yeah” you reply.

Approx of 1.4K words, give or take. Enjoy!
Here’s an idea I’ve had for a very long time: pinching and confessing with some Haikyuu boys. Allow me to elaborate,
— If you confess, these guys will break down and completely become a mess. They’ll end up pinching themselves to make sure they’re not dreaming: ASAHI, Hinata, Tendou, Goshiki, Akaashi, Koganegawa, Bokuto.
After volleyball practice is over, Asahi feels like a wreck. Sweat is running down his forehead, his back, and his chest. It’s a prickly feeling and it makes him uncomfortable. He can’t wait to get home so he can jump into the shower. As he packs up with the rest of his friends, Asahi hears your voice.
‘’Asahi!’’ You call out and he freezes. Oh no. He gulps, gaze still on his bag. He’s sweating uncontrollably and he probably reeks- he can’t talk to you like this! But Nishinoya claps him on the back and sends him on his way. Asahi is too distracted and nervous to argue.
Once he’s reached you at the entrance of the gym, Asahi feels his anxiety skyrocket. ‘’Hey,’’ he tries to play it cool though he feels anything but remotely similar to cool. ‘’What’s up?’’
‘’I have something to tell you,’’ your words are making his stomach twist. ‘’Can we talk outside?’’
He wants to say no, but it’s hard to say no to you. Plus, what could go wrong? Maybe it’s a simple thing- you want to invite him to an event…or you want to stop being friends with him. Oh, God. He nods and walks outside with you but Asahi starts to wonder whether he made the right choice.
‘’So…’’ he shoves his hands into the pockets of his shorts, thankful he has something to keep his hands busy with. ‘’What did you want to tell me?’’ He has to lower his neck to avoid the branches and leaves of the tree you brought him to.
‘’Okay, so…’’ you inhale loudly. ‘’I want you to have this first,’’ you hand him over a heart-shaped box, and Asahi’s heart skips a beat. He doesn’t want to assume things but….are you confessing? Oh my God- this can’t be real.
‘’I hope you’ll like the chocolates- I made them myself,’’ his face is warm. ‘’But anyway-!’’ You laugh nervously and it makes Asahi smile. He’s not the only one who's nervous. ‘’I like you. I’ve liked you since our second year but I’ve always been too scared to tell you…but I wanted to tell you before high school ended. And I was wondering if you felt the same way…’’
This is too good to be true-! Asahi’s right hand goes to pinch his arm, maybe he's dreaming. But then he pinches himself a little bit too harshly and he grunts, quickly rubbing the sore spot.
‘’What- are you okay? Why did you pinch yourself-?!” You’re quick to step forward, your hands gently holding onto his arm. You’re so, so close to him…Asahi feels like he can’t breathe. He felt the pinch, felt the pain. He didn’t wake up in his bed, so he’s not dreaming. He laughs, both out of embarrassment and relief as he nervously rubs the back of his head.
‘’Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t dreaming…’’ He’s never been more glad that he’s not.
— They’ll ask you to pinch them after you confess rather than pinching themselves: ATSUMU, Tanaka, Nishinoya, Lev, Oikawa.
“Atsumu! Wait up, I have to tell you something.” The blonde stops at the sound of your voice, a smile taking over his face. Osamu rolls his eyes, deciding to keep walking home. He knows he’ll be third-wheeling if he sticks around.
“Y/N! What’s up?” Atsumu hopes you can’t tell how fast his heart suddenly started beating. He watches you meet his gaze and he swallows. You’re really, really pretty. How the hell is he supposed to maintain eye contact like this!? His face is on fire.
“I hope this isn’t too sudden, but…” you look away before meeting his gaze again. “I like you.”
Atsumu’s mind goes blank. His jaw hangs open and he freezes. Did he…did he hear that right-? You like him!?
His first reaction is to laugh. And he does, a burst of awkward and nervous laughter leaving his lips. Your face falls, and Atsumu wants to slap himself.
‘’I’m not laughing at ya-!” He’s quick to stammer, hands moving in a series of awkward and unexplainable gestures. God, he wishes he could disappear. You’re probably regretting confessing, seeing how much of an idiot he is.
‘’I’m making this worse, aren’t I?’’ He laughs again, one hand going to tug at his hair. ‘’Just…can you do me a favor?’’ You instantly perk up, nodding.
‘’Sure. What is it?’’ He feels his chest tighten at the smile you give him. It shouldn’t be possible for someone to be this cute! So unfair…
‘’Can ya pinch me?’’ Atsumu squeaks. Darn, that was not cool at all- he sounded like a little boy! He clears his throat, meeting your gaze. ‘’Sorry- anyway, can you pinch me? Just gotta make sure I’m not dreamin’.’’
You furrow your brows, no doubt confused at his strange request. ‘’Um…okay.’’ You lean forward and Atsumu holds his breath. Even then, he catches a whiff of your perfume. It makes his cheeks warm but then the jolt of pain that shoots through his left forearm has him yelping. ‘’Ouch! Ya didn’t have to pinch me that hard!’’ He whines, rubbing his forearm. You burst out laughing, lips tugging upwards and your body relaxing. The pain in Atsumu’s arm seems to fade away the longer he stares at your laughing face and before he knows it, he’s laughing with you.
— They’ll confess first and you ask them to pinch you: USHIJIMA, Kita, Aran, Akaashi, Aone.
‘’Y/N,’’ you almost bump into Ushijima’s chest, barely able to keep yourself on your two feet as you step back. When did he get to your class? ‘’I would like to talk to you- privately if that’s possible.’’ He looks at you expectantly and you swallow nervously. Slowly, you nod.
‘’Sure. Let’s walk outside?’’ He nods. It’s lunchtime so there’s no harm in hearing him out…you hope.
‘’So, what is it you wanted to talk about? Is something wrong?’’ You speak once the two of you have reached Shiratorizawa’s open area. The weather is nice today, with the sun shining down softly and some wind rustling through the trees.
‘’Oh, nothing is wrong. I simply want to tell you something,’’ he clears his throat and you notice that his hands are behind his back. It’s nothing out of the ordinary but it makes you wonder if he’s hiding something. As if reading your mind, Ushijima pulls out a bouquet of your favorite flowers from behind and you think you’re going to faint.
‘’These are for you,’’ his voice is deep but with a soft tone that you usually don’t hear. ‘’Satori told me girls appreciate being given flowers… I hope you like them.’’ Flowers aren’t your all-time favorite but the gesture still makes your face warm.
‘’Thank you…’’ you grab the flowers with a smile. Your heart’s racing but you try to ignore it. ‘’I love them.’’
‘’I’m glad to hear that,’’ you’re surprised to see a tinge of pink on his face. You’ve never seen Ushijima nervous or flustered- this is a first. ‘’I also asked the florist to put a pink camellia- they’re supposed to symbolize longing and affection,’’ Oh? Your heart skips a beat.
‘’I don't think it's necessary, but I’ll say this as to avoid any confusion or miscommunication…’’ he takes a step closer to you and you swallow audibly. He’s so warm and it’s hard to not lean into him. ‘’I am enamored by you, Y/N. And I wish to be in a romantic relationship with you if you reciprocate my feelings.’’
‘’Um…’’ you barely manage to squeak it out. ‘’Can you pinch me?’’
Ushijima furrows his brows. ‘’Pinch…you…? Why?’’ He looks concerned and your face is growing warm with embarrassment.
‘’I have to make sure…I’m not dreaming…’’ your voice is so low that Ushijima has to lean forward. His hair slightly brushes against your face and it tickles.
‘’Come again?’’ You want to squeal and bury your face into a pillow. With a dramatic groan, you lower your head.
‘’I want you to pinch me so I’m sure that this isn’t a dream…’’ you grumble. Ushijima doesn’t respond at first but then you hear him chuckle. It’s a foreign sound to your ears and it feels like a blessing.
‘’I’m sure I can prove you’re not dreaming in another way…’’ one of his hands goes to your back, slowly pulling you closer to him. ‘’If you’ll allow me.’’

“pillow talk” - a collection of conversations between you and matsukawa issei.
1. october 23rd, 1:03am.
“that was fun.” matsukawa props himself up on one elbow, lower half still covered by a disarray of blue dorm sheets.
you’re sitting on the edge of the bed, pulling your t-shirt back on, but you turn to look at him, smiling slightly. “fun?”
“great. excellent. out of this world amazing,” he says teasingly. there’s a glint in his eye and a flush in his cheeks.
“that’s what I thought.” you make to stand up, but matsukawa grabs your wrist before you can move another muscle.
“you can stay,” he says, face strangely hopeful and childlike (a sharp contrast to the night’s earlier… activities). “if you want, I mean.”
your body aches to climb back under the covers with him, to press yourself against his hot skin and let yourself fall asleep in his embrace… but what you have with matsukawa is new and fragile, and you refuse to close your fist on something delicate and shatter it in the process.
“maybe next time. I have class in the morning.” advanced calculus, to be specific. hell on earth, to be even more specific.
“will there be a next time?” there it is again. that hope.
“if you’ll have me,” you say, rising from the mattress.
“I’ll do more than have you.” he grins, cocking his head. “I’ll take you.”
and there it is — matsukawa issei, ladies and gents. you smile to yourself as you slip out of his room, committing the feel of his hands gripping your hips and his lips on yours to memory.
2. october 27th, 4:36pm.
you stay this time. it’s a weeknight, and there’s class in the morning again, but the bed is warm and matsukawa’s arm fits like it was made for you. he’s nervous, you can tell, what with the way his fingers shake slightly as they brush the hair from your eyes — but that’s okay. it’s endearing. cute, even.
“hey,” he says, voice low and throaty.
“hi,” you respond, turning your face to look at him, his sharp, angular face shaded even more dramatic by moonlight. he really is a little too pretty for his own good, you decide, running a light hand down his torso. his mouth twitches when your fingers skim over his waistband and back up again.
“tease,” he sighs, and you laugh.
“it’s what I’m best at,” you say.
“among other things,” matsukawa concedes, grinning. you gasp and hit him lightly on the chest.
“you’re so dirty minded!” you scold, and he scoffs.
“I’m the dirty minded one? listen sweetheart, twenty minutes ago you were —”
you shut him up with a swift kiss on the lips, swallowing his indignant words as he chuckles somewhere in the back of his throat and pulls you on top of him. you slide your fingers into his mess of dark hair and smile into the kiss until he finally breaks away and begins dusting smaller kisses along your jaw and collarbone.
“you know,” you breathe, trying to avoid gasping when matsukawa presses his mouth to that soft spot right below your neck, “you’re acting awfully boyfriend today, issei. you’d better be careful before I up and decide to make you mine.”
“maybe that’s what I want you do to,” he says without looking at you.
you start in surprise, a small smile creeping onto your lips. “oh, really?”
matsukawa unattaches himself from your neck and takes your face in his hands, staring up at you with a grin. “really.”
“okay,” you say, and in response he squishes your cheeks and laughs. you roll your eyes and tug on his wrists until he lets go. “okay, boyfriend.”
“okay, girlfriend.”
you’d never anticipated a relationship to fall into place so easily. but then again, with matsukawa, everything — everything from his sweet talk to his skin to his stupid pickup lines — is pretty damn smooth.
3. january 1st, 11:24pm.
“you have a nice nose,” he says, running a finger down its bridge. golden afternoon light slices through the gaps in his shutters, casting odd stripes across his face.
“I hate my nose.” you bite back a sheepish smile. “it’s weird.”
“no, it’s cute,” he insists, and despite yourself, your heart swells. maybe it’s silly, maybe it’s shallow, but nothing really beats having someone refute your insecurities, however insignificant they may be. “I’m the one with a weird nose.”
you sit straight up, nearly knocking him back. “you do not have a weird nose. I love your nose!”
“I love your face.” matsukawa gently pulls you back down, gathering you into his chest so he can rest his chin on your shoulder.
“well, it is a pretty nice face,” you say, and he huffs.
“you were supposed to say you love my face, too,” he whines in a small voice. you almost giggle at the thought of this six foot two giant baby-talking to you.
“I thought that was self-explanatory,” you say. “I like everything about you.”
matsukawa shoots you a dramatic glare, furrowing his brows. “yesterday you said you didn’t like my t-shirt.”
“it was a rick and morty t-shirt! I was morally obligated to disparage your fashion taste in that moment,” you say piously.
“so you don’t like everything about me,” matsukawa sighs, pretending to wipe a tear from his eye. “my girlfriend is a liar.”
“I like everything about you except for the fact that you like rick and morty,” you correct yourself.
“I like everything about you except for the fact that you don’t like rick and morty,” matsukawa shoots back, and you let out an ugly guffaw.
“alright, then. agree to disagree?”
before answering, he leans forward to give you a brief kiss that you return, enjoying the faint taste of spearmint on his lips. “you’ll come around eventually.”
“I really won’t.”
“you will.”
“I won’t.”
“you won’t.”
“I will,” you say, and then — “wait, no. damn it, issei, I can’t believe that worked on me.”
“gotcha!”
4. march 20th, 3:16am.
“dude,” matsukawa says. “we should go out for ramen.”
“did you just call me dude?” you raise an incredulous eyebrow.
“sorry,” he says, sitting upright and pulling on a shirt. “I meant babe. can we get ramen?”
“it’s 3am,” you say, catching the shirt he tosses to you and putting it on. “is there any place nearby that’s still open at this hour?”
matsukawa whisks you out of bed, bridal style, and spins you around, ignoring your protestations as you attempt to scold him between giggles. when he finally sets you down you’re dizzy, clinging to him for balance. “obviously you don’t understand the ramen business. when the craving hits, it hits, and these guys know that. that’s why there’s a 24 hour ramen-ya near every college campus in the country.”
“then,” you say, blinking hard as the room comes back into focus. “I say we go eat.”
“let zem eat ramen?” matsukawa says in a phony french accent. you want to roll your eyes but you can’t quite bring yourself to do so. he’s too damn charming about it.
“let zem eat ramen,” you repeat, and he laughs, rumpling your hair before grabbing his keys off the bedside table.
“you’re adorable.”
“I’m a legal adult,” you sigh. “why do you insist on calling me cute? I’m sexy.”
“you’re cute and sexy,” he agrees, opening the door for you. “the two are not mutually exclusive.”
“fancy words.”
“I’m just trying to impress you,” he says with an obnoxious wink.
5. april 4th, 1:58am.
“do you think there’s life in space?”
you’re lying side by side next to matsukawa, both staring up at his dorm room ceiling, where a handful of plastic stars glow in the dark.
he snickers. “you mean, like, martians? little green men with antennae?”
“sure,” you say, ignoring his jab. “or maybe enormous space whales swimming somewhere deep in the cosmos. galactic empires of cyborgs and robot servants. train stations that take you from star to star.”
“that reminds me,” he says. you feel him slip his fingers into your hand. “we should watch star wars together sometime.”
“you avoided the question,” you complain, and he laughs.
“sorry,” he says. “I’ve never given much thought to huge space whales or interplanetary train stations.”
“you’ve never wondered might be out there? never wanted to fly to the moon and see what there is to see?” the thought is alien (pun intended) to you. how could anyone look into the star speckled sky and see anything other than a mass of worlds waiting to be explored?
“I don’t need to. kinda have everything I could ever want here on earth already.” matsukawa shrugs, flashing you a grin. “good friends. perfect girlfriend. a really excellent ramen shop down the street.”
“and that’s all you need?”
“that’s all I need,” he agrees, and you stay silent, scooting closer to press yourself into matsukawa’s larger frame. maybe he has a point. you count over your blessings in your head: good friends, perfect boyfriend, a really excellent ramen shop down the street. even space whales can’t really compare, you decide, sneaking a glance at issei only to find he’s already looking down at you with a soft smile.
and maybe that’s enough. maybe it’s enough to have someone who loves you and your flaws, someone who lets you borrow his dumb graphic tees and never lets you pay for your own dinner. maybe what you have here with matsukawa issei, feet on the ground and hands intertwined, is enough.
characters: hq captains (ushijima, daichi, bokuto) with gn!reader
words, genre: 1.5k words, fluff + slight angst. warnings: none!
summary: in love, there’s a moment where everything falls into place and you realize that there’s no one else you’d rather spend forever with. | part one (with oikawa, kuroo, kita)
USHIJIMA WAKATOSHI;
admittedly, ushijima is not the best at relationships
but you brought out sides of him that he didn’t know even existed
and because he’s so in love with you, he finds himself looking for ways to surprise you
he doesn’t hesitate to try new things because all he wants is to make you happy in the way you make him complete
When Ushijima comes home, the first thing he notices is the other pair of shoes sitting by the entranceway. He smiles as he walks all the way to the kitchen where he heard a commotion.
Though your back was turned to him, seeing you in his apartment instantly relieved him of his exhaustion for the day. He hurriedly goes over to you, wrapping his arms around your waist to pull you to his chest.
“Wakatoshi,” you turn your head back and give him a peck on his cheeks. “Welcome home.”
He shows you one of his rare smiles and reciprocates your kiss with his own. “Thank you, love.” He rests his chin on your shoulders and watches you quietly as you prep the ingredients.
“Do you want to help cook?” You were already expecting him to just hum and leave you to the dishes while he sets up the plates. So it was a genuine surprise when his hands left your body and retrieved the apron (it was a matching set to the one you were wearing) from one of the drawers.
He silently took his place by your side, and took the cutting board and the knife from your hands. You watched in awe as he skillfully sliced the onions in perfect shape.
“Do you need me to cut the carrots too?” You hadn’t noticed that he’s finished until you heard his voice close in your ears. That night, the two of you cooked together for the first time and there was something so intimate and so special about it.
“This feels nice,” you commented as Ushijima now worked on slicing the raw chicken fillet. “I thought you didn’t know how to cook.”
“I’ve been practicing.” His answer surprises you. You can’t help but imagine him watching cooking tutorials and the thought makes you smile.
“Really? And what exactly motivated you to learn how to cook?”
Ushijima stops and turns to you with the warmest look in his eyes.
“I wouldn’t want you to do all the cooking in the future.” He grasps and kisses the back of your hands. “I wouldn’t be doing my job as your partner if you don’t let me serve you too.”
You don’t know which of the two takes your breath away—the way he looked when he said those words or the indirect proposal he just made. Either way, you were already looking forward to the future he’d just proclaimed.
SAWAMURA DAICHI;
your friends always said that daichi seems like the type of guy you’d bring to meet your parents
they weren’t wrong. he was the best partner anyone could ever ask for
you often find yourself wondering if marriage was ever on his mind
what you don’t know is that daichi had been carrying a ring box everyday since college graduation, just waiting for the right moment
Daichi clutches the material of his coat, hugging his body tighter as he stood and waited in front of your office building. He spots you walking with a friend and his lips curl upward into a smile. When you turn to look his way, he feels like a giddy high school boy as his heart skips a beat at the eye contact.
You bid your friend goodbye and run towards his waiting arms. He grunts when you throw yourself at him, laughing as you relax in his hold and he runs his hands over your back.
“You worked hard today. Shall we get your comfort food or do you want me to cook at home and prepare you a hot bath?”
You smile as you consider your options. “I like the sound of the second option.”
He takes your hands and brings it to his lips to plant a soft kiss along your knuckles. “Let’s head home then.”
The two of you begin a silent walk to your apartment complex. Lately, he’s been busy with his police work that he’s rarely had the time to stop by You take a glance at him, trying to remember as much of his face for as long as you can. Because you never know when he’d ever have the luxury of spending time with you like this.
He notices you staring, “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Nothing. I just missed you.” You mutter. “Work has been keeping you too busy. It’s like you’re married to your job and I’m just your side piece.”
He laughs loudly that other passersby have turned to look your way. He says nothing, only squeezing your hands and looks at you with a glint in his eyes.
When the two of you arrived at your apartment, you made a beeline to the living room and planted yourself on the couch. You heard footsteps nearing and stopping at the side of the sofa.
Daichi had kneeled beside your position, his face inches away from yours when he calls your name. At the sound of his voice, you open an eye and see him holding out a ring in front of you. You sit up immediately, mouth hanging open as you search for the words to say but he beats you to it.
“You said earlier that you feel like I’m married to my job, and I’m sorry if I ever made you feel that but,” he pauses to stop the tears that threatened to fall. “But my job can’t compare to you. At the end of the day, I’ll leave work and come home to you.”
You’re both crying messes when Daichi takes your hand and positions the ring on your fourth finger. “Will you marry me?” Of course, you said yes.
BOKUTO KOTARO;
bokuto loves with his whole heart and he treasures you like you’re his world
your steadfast feelings made him confident and assured
but whenever a fight breaks between the two of you, his resolve always crumbles
when he realizes that nothing scares him more than the fact that he could lose you, that’s when he makes a promise
When Bokuto wakes up, he instinctively reaches for the other side of his bed and his heart drops when he feels nothing. He jolts up, eyes frantically searching his room for any sign that last night was not a dream.
He’s getting ready to stand up when the door opens and he sees you enter the room with a tray of breakfast in your hands. He scrambles on his feet and you’re surprised when he takes the food and places it on his desk before his arms make their way to hug you.
“I thought you’d left me again,” he mumbles in your neck. When you wrap your arms around him, Bokuto sighs and sinks further into the embrace. “I’m really sorry.”
It all started because of a petty fight. The two of you had been so busy with your own work that neither of you had time for each other. But the one time you’d both been home at the same time only resulted in an argument that led to you giving him the silent treatment for three weeks.
And those weeks were like hell for Bokuto. After that fight, he’d immediately realized his mistake and he’d called and messaged you but to no avail. Last night, you’d finally returned and Bokuto was more than relieved to see you.
“Let’s not fight ever again.” He looks at you with pleading eyes. “It was stupid of me to blame you for not having time for me when I’ve also been so occupied.”
“Bokuto…” You cup his cheeks and he closes his eyes as your hand gently caresses his face. “I’m sorry too. And I promise I’ll never disappear on you again.”
If there was one thing that he’d realized during the time when you were away, it’s that he could never live without you. He also couldn’t bear the thought of being the cause of your hurt and pain so he makes a promise.
He leans so close that you could hear the drumming of his heart. “I’ll never do anything to make you sad again. When we first got together, I told you that I’d only make you happy.”
You smile as you remember that moment when he’d asked you to be his. It was one of the best days of his and your life.
“And that’s what I’ll do from now and for the rest of our lives.” He’s inching closer and closer, your lips just a few millimeters away until you say something.
“What you said just now sounds like a wedding vow.”
He laughs, surprising you when he turns and plops down with you on the bed. He’s hovering above you playfully, “Baby, wait until you hear the rest of it.”

Fluff, no warnings. 462 words. Repost from my old blog.
SAKUSA found out he was in love when he started to miss your scent on his hoodie. It seemed kind of silly, but when he held his sleeve to his nose and all he smelled was the detergent he used, he sensed there was a missing piece. He didn't hesitate to ask you to exchange hoodies, so he could smell your scent even when you weren't around. A way to be close while being far away.
KUROO didn't expect to fall in love with you, much less discover it in such a way. It was your notes in his math notebook, in a completely different handwriting than his own. It stood out among all his writing, and, to him, it looked impeccable. He didn't want to ruin that with his disastrous handwriting, so he left that page solely for your notes, the notes. So, he kept every single scribble you made for him, no matter how small, it was something he never got used to.
IWAIZUMI wished he didn't find out that he was in love while standing next to you, to this day he' s still embarrassed by his reaction. "I came to see you, Iwaizumi" you told him before a match. Blush immediately flashed on his cheeks and he began to stutter, not knowing what to say. Maybe you thought you were making him nervous, or that's what he told himself, so you kissed him on the cheek for good luck. Hajime never seemed as fired up as he was in that game.
SUNA thought he found out in the most unconventional way possible. Amidst all the jokes, he had taken his phone to snap a picture of you, for which you posed horribly. He couldn't help but burst out laughing when he saw it, ready to post it to tease you even more. Without even seeing it, you said "post it and I'll do the same with all the pictures of you where you don't look good. Besides, my worst picture will always be better than your best" you said. He thought he wanted to have that relationship with you forever, and he fell even more in love when you posted that embarrassing photo yourself.
OIKAWA told himself that he already knew he was in love with you, he was just looking for a way to prove it, and he did it on the day he was about to play one of his most important high school games. The day was rainy, and you showed up outside his house with an extra umbrella and your lucky charm that you wore to every test. He took it to Argentina, promising he would come back for you. And so he did, with a ring in exchange for the amulet.
