Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation and WBSEDCL have initiated separate reverse auctions to procure peak-hour electricity for September and August respectively. The auctions are structured as buy-side procurements and, according to the tender terms, are being conducted in parallel on HPX, IEX and PXIL. The focus remains on evening peak supply instead of round-the-clock power.

The procurement strategy reflects growing efforts by state utilities to secure electricity before expected demand peaks rather than relying entirely on volatile day-ahead markets. While the auctions demonstrate clear procurement intent, no clearing prices or awarded quantities have been published so far.
