Just a few pictures of a fabulous weekend đ #HPparty
Turn to Page 394
Whatâs a Harry Potter Party without your school books? Luckily, I didnât have to go all the way to Flourish & Blotts to get these. I went to Pinterest.
When I saw these book covers I thought they would make great props to lay around casually. âOh, this book here? Thatâs just my History of Magic textbook.âÂ
The books that I had in my library didnât really fit the covers, so I had to use some double sided tape around the edges to get the covers to stay put. I thought it would be better to use smaller books that would fit the covers completely instead of larger books.
Once I folded the edges of the covers I slid the books in and taped the corners. The books didnât fit perfectly and if anyone tries to handle them the covers may fall off, but otherwise they came out great! Now turn to page three hundred and ninety four!Â
Every Flavor Beans
In my quest for the ultimate Potter Party, I have come across a ton of free printables (see my pinterest link for the sources of many of the printables I used). You canât have a HP birthday party with Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, and you canât have Every Flavor Beans without the iconic box from the movie (although I have seen people do it, but being such a huge Potterhead I wouldnât dream of having Every Flavor Beans in a plastic baggie.)
When printing these out onto card stock I reduced the size by 50%. I thought the full page was just too big. You can never have too many jelly beans, but I decided that if I want to keep my sanity during this party, I may want to scale back the amount of jelly beans per box. Plus, there are some other Honey Dukes goodies that will be making a appearance.Â
Here is the template I found (with the artistâs info of course). Iâll probably get a box of HP jelly beans to mix in with some âsaferâ flavors. Is that bean toffee flavored or earwax? Guess youâll have to taste it and find out.

DIY HP Glitter Jar
In my quest for having the best Harry Potter Party Props ever, I had an idea to make a jar of âDragonâs Bloodâ. I thought it would be a really cool party prop for my daughter to keep after the partyâs over.
I found the label via Pinterest and stuck it onto a mason jar. As far as glitter jars go, Youtube has a bunch of easy tutorials you can follow. I used: Red and Silver glitter (both loose and glue), warm water and a couple drops of red food coloring. In the movie The Half-Blood Prince, Dumbledore takes Harry to help him recruit Professor Slughorn to return to Hogwarts to teach Potions. When they arrive at Slughornâs house, he detects Dragonâs Blood on the premises. Except, I donât think the movie version had glitter. Mine is much prettier to look at too!Â

The Staircases Changed
One of the more memorable parts of the HP movies and Books is when Harry encounters the moving staircases. Now, it would be awesome to have moving staircases for this party, but thereâs this thing called reality that keeps getting in the way (curse you realiltyyy! *shakes fist*) So, I have (with my Hubbyâs help), come up with an alternative - a moving staircase mobile.
Have you ever tried to create a staircase out of cardboard and paper? Well, letâs just say that I really couldâve used a magic wand.
I drew the railings onto white cardboard, then stained the board with tea to make it look aged. I folded up a piece of paper for the stairs, and it was tricky AF. Once I was able to line up the railing and the accordion folded paper, I glued the âstepsâ into place.
Itâs still a work in progress. I have to figure out a way to hang it so that when it spins it will âchange directionâ. So hurry up and get to class before the stairs change.
218 Days of Harry Potter
Itâs been awhile since I posted any projects, but I am working on some major Birthday DIY. Itâs like the Crafting Olympics in my house, and itâs all because Im planning ZJâs 6th birthday party!! Woot! Woot!
These next Tumblr posts will be various HP projects as it relates to 6th birthday party fun. This one is a fun DIY Wanted Poster Photo Frame. I did all the lettering freehand, which it why it looks like a 5 year old wrote it. Iâm pretty happy with it though. âTwas a labor of love! There are tons of these online, both DIY and digital versions that you can print out. Now anyone can be Notorious Mass- Murderer Sirius Black.
