magic exists. children need to learn how to use magic. there are many kinds and it is a secret. welcome to Harry Potter but Better. our main character is a young man i cant remember the name of. he has black hair. he is sort of rivals with a young man with white hair who i cant remember the name of. they are both orphans and feel like they need to fight each other to prove that they belong at this school despite the fact that neither of them have spoken a full sentence to the other.

they happen to both be best friends with a girl who i think was named after a flower. she is not an orphan! she is very good at inventing things but she kind of sucks at making friends, so she has elected to be friends with the two weird boys because she figures they are also bad at Friendship.

they end up bonding together over a summer break where a lot of students live on campus due to some kind of magical threat in other parts of the country. the sea and the elements seem to be rioting or some shit. they become Very Good Friends.

in the middle of a training battle the black haired boy fights and wins. they send him up against the Elephantine. he pushes one of the soldiers off his warbeast and wins the fight. he hears the whispers of something in the back of his head

turns out that the whole elements thing is "because of these dark entities," the government says. the government is halfway right. the ??? were at one point protectors of the land but were twisted into darkness when the government betrayed them and (tried) to have them killed. doo doo doo the 2 orphans are both descendants of 2 of these dark entities. flowergirl is not

there is a whole bit where they are fleeing the government on mechanical dolphins and it turns out one or both of the elemental boys can breathe underwater
