HOUSE OF ANVERS: Latrobe - we sat outside which was perfect for a hot day. We were glad of the gentle breeze and space and beautiful garden setting. Our dining party had three dishes. Savoury Waffles - two warm Belgian waffles served with grilled crispy pandani bacon, banana and a side of pure maple syrup. Delighted oohs and ahhhhs when this dish came out. Everyone loved it and were all very full afterwards. Pesto Mushrooms - pan fried button mushrooms with spinach and Anvers own pesto, served on Pigeon Hole Bakery sourdough, drizzled with a balsamic glaze, topped with shaved Parmesan. Absolutely delightful dish with an abundance of flavour. The pan frying was so delicately done that the mushrooms were perfection. Eggs Benedict - two pieces of toasted pipe loaf topped with smoked salmon and free range poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and asparagus. Lovely dish with Avery light hollandaise sauce that didn’t overpower the dish but complemented it beautifully. The eggs were beautiful although overdone a fraction so missed out on the wonderful ooze of yolk. Still a great dish though. The highlight was the exemplary service by Sonya. She was a delight and far outshone the other wait staff who seemed to all be feeling the effects of a very busy day. Sonya was extraordinary with her friendly attitude and dazzling smile.
