So since a year of lockdown has left me completely sick of everything I used to enjoy, I've broken the golden rule of being a cynical grumpy shut in and started Trying New Things, mostly thanks to a discount store near where I work.
One of those thing I present today!
Behold!
I built a house! I fully admit it's from a kit, I dont have the skill or tools to make something like this from scratch XD
It was actually a lot of fun, I recommend it for anyone thinking about trying out making models. There was a lot of different materials involved and some was very fiddly (even some basic wiring, as it has working lights), so not suitable for children or those with visual impairments or limited movement in their hands.
Honestly you can fix most of it in place with glue, if sewing isn't your forte. I was worried at first because all the pieces looked a bit rough, but once it's all put together you can't tell.
I messed up part of the roof, but other than that it was pretty easy. The hardest part was keeping the kittens out of the room, especially Mr. Eats-everything-that-isnt-actually-edible.
Still picking dried glue off my fingers, though. Probably will be for a while.
The best part was the little food, as it came in long thin tubes like rubbers (erasers, for Americans), and I had to cut them with a scalpel. It was actually so cute!
Will I make another one? Maybe. I only bought this one because it was on sale. If I ever have the money/time again, I definitely would.
It also plays music!

Santuario de la Difunta Correa, San Juan, 2008.
One of many photos I took at the bizarre desert shrine to the folk saint who nursed her baby even after she had died from starvation or dehydration in the desert heat. It is common for those who believe in the cult of Difunta Correa to give relics for things they want or have received thanks to her “interventions.” A hillside leading to the shrine proper is dotted with models of houses and businesses, many, like this one, in metal.
