I ask for several reasons: it’s a hot-button topic for some, for others it’s a non-issue; strictly-speaking, there’s no laws about what you can write about, so it’s technically not against any laws; the age of consent differs radically for different countries or even different provinces within countries (I think there’s a part of Japan where the age of consent is 12???); and, well, teenagers have sex. Like, a lot. There’s no such thing as stopping teenagers from having sex. If they want to do it, they’ll find a way.

Thinking back to my teenage years (good god I’m getting old lol), I can distinctly recall being told I “needed a boyfriend” by other girls when I was 15 because I admitted to being a virgin. Girls 15-16 were constantly talking about sex during class, what it felt like, how much blood there’d been, etc. And though I personally managed to hang on to my virginity until I was 20, there were times when I wanted nothing more than to fuck someone as young as 14.

In my mind, the scale goes kind of like this:

14 and under - too young, much skeev

15 - grey area; very much depends on the scenario and what they’re doing

16 - can totally consent, s’fine, but still needs caution in how it’s presented (not okay for just smut; story required)

17 - Proceed gently and it’s all good

18 and over - 100% legal, go for it 

Regarding underage-mature pairings, things get a wee bit more hazy, especially considering this is an exophilia blog. Like is it considered cradle robbing if a 300-year-old vampire who happened to get turned when he was 16 bangs a 16-year-old human? #hmmm

For strictly human involvement, something like a 17-year-old and a 24-year-old doesn’t feel like it should be off-limits, but a 16-year-old with a 43-year-old? Skeevy. Def needs a majorly good reason for something like that to be considered okay. (Examples: either very super deeply in love, which is already in a grey area cause youth = stupid so can the 16-year-old really consent to that? Or like an apocalyptic scenario where most of humanity is dead anyway.)

To bring in some clarity, think of Blue Blood. For those who don’t know, it features a human woman and a male-presenting android. The human is 28. The android is...6 months old, but appears as (and has the mental maturity of) someone in the early-to-mid twenties.

Does that make it gross?

For The Dancer, this didn’t even occur to me until well after the first sex scene, and both Jocelyn and Raphael were 17 during it. That’s another thing with how my mind works: if they’re the same age, it’s generally just fine to write. For the most part age doesn’t factor in unless/until it includes someone of 16 years or younger.

The specific reason why I ask is because I freaking love a pairing from one of my mobile games, but it’s a Hogwarts game that goes through the full seven-year schooling period. Presently, the characters are in their 6th year, which means they’re 16-17. And I love them so god damn much, I so badly want to write some stuff for them (not necessarily smut, they’re super cute guys) but I wasn’t sure if I’d end up losing followers and getting black-listed and whatnot for it.

Thus, I need to know what you guys think.

As a writer, “underage” isn’t much of a factor for me. I won’t post any images or videos or anything including underage participants for obvious reasons, but erotica? No issues.

I mean, except for the boundaries set above. You’ll never see loli shit around here. [shudders]

Now, all that said, you guys don’t have to worry about ages and such for 99% of the stuff I’ll be posting. Everybody is an adult unless stated otherwise. If I write a short story and don’t mention the ages of the participants, they’re over 18. You can safely assume that for literally everything I write. And for things that do include underage participants, I will absolutely tag that shit. You will never be surprised by haha this person is 15/16/17!! SURPRISE!

I think the biggest problem in the world today is that no one is LISTENING to each other. If two people disagree on an emotionally charged issue, they often assume the worst of each other.

“That person is a Trump supporter? They must be a racist woman-hater!” “That person is a feminist? They must hate all men!”

I also try to never look down on someone just for disagreeing with me. One of my favorite books of all time is a narrative biography written by a late friend-of-a-friend of mine and at the center of it is the friendship between Christian and a Muslim (they even refer to themselves as brothers) who argue over theology/apologetics all the time for years yet it never occurs to them that they have to hate each other because they both think the other is wrong (I personally found their friendship to be very charming and would love to see this book adapted into a movie because they are both likeable dorks). It’s BECAUSE they loved each other that they argued. They both think “I believe I’m right on how to get to heaven and you’re wrong but I want you to be in heaven with me so I’m going to do what I can to convince you even if you’re offended by it. It’s out of love that I am trying to destabilize your worldview.” While their friendship gets strained at times, they never give up on each other because, “Even though we disagreed, I knew if it came right down to it, he would take a bullet for me and he knew that I would do the same.”

The title of the book is a dead giveaway to how it all ends, but regardless of whether or not you agree with Nabeel’s decision to become a Christian, for the reasons stated above, I HIGHLY recommend the book Seeking Allah Finding Jesus. It really is a great example of how just because two people disagree on something so important, it doesn’t mean they have to be enemies. You might get a few laughs out of it too because these guys have a good sense of humor. One line in the book that stands out in my memory is “Political correctness is for acquaintances. We were friends.”

YES. When outside the confines of the covenant of marriage as God defined it that is true. It’s the same struggle toward different individuals. Heck, I feel like I’m one of the only people who’s actually HAPPY when a show actively portrays a dating couple sleeping in separate beds before being married where most shows nowadays (even on kids networks) will at best leave it up to the imagination of the viewer. I’ve struggled with it and I’ve fallen short many times in certain areas, but God has shown me so much grace that I do all I can to avoid it. I know some people who refuse go anywhere alone with someone of the opposite gender because they are so protective of that ideal and want to avoid any potential temptation. The lead singer of one of my favorite bands is one of these people. He’s married and won’t even go to a business meeting alone with his female manager without bringing a friend.

This might seem extreme, but speaking from personal experience, it’s a good idea. I’ve heard a lot of stories where a guy and girl who are just friends are alone for a while and say they never planned on anything happening but temptation took over and they were blindsided by it.

My own Young Adults group leader shared how one time years ago he was ministering to an attractive young lady and met with her in a public place. He called his wife every two minutes. He ended up having to drop this lady off and at one point they were in the car alone and as he was praying over her, he said some hair fell into her eyes and he innocently tried to move it but the moment that he did he said he felt a tangible spirit of lust enter the car and that it was the quickest prayer he’d ever said in his life before booting her out and calling his wife again.

My desires are to glorify Him with what I do with my body. I might never get married which in turn means I could remain celibate all my life and I’m fine with that because He fills my heart with all the love I need, but if I do get married then I want it to be honoring to Him. A relationship built on mutual service, selfless love and teamwork that forgives each other of all their faults, places the other’s needs above their own and serve as a symbolic representation of God’s relationship with His people.

I had a professor who shared a story about a friend of his. The friend had a wife who cheated on him and left him for another man. The husband said that she may have broken her vows, but he will not break his and he still drives across states to come to her aid when she needs help. It reminded me a lot of the Biblical book of Hosea. God told a prophet to marry an unfaithful woman and to love her unconditionally as an image of His unconditional love for the people of Israel. The life she lives results in her being sold into slavery and Hosea pays for her freedom in spite of everything. It’s one of my favorites because it ends with the two reconciling and every media version of it has made me cry.

That is the kind of selfless love I am talking about. The kind that says “I’m always here for you, even when you don’t make me feel good and I expect nothing in return because it’s not about me.” It’s a beautiful thing, but it can really hurt.

I’m saying those who claim to love God need to let Him be Lord over every area of their lives. A lot of people accept Him as Savior, but not as many accept Him as Lord.

I don’t believe it’s possible for a person to change themselves for Him, but His love transforms us. It changes our hearts and our desires. ALL of those who are called by His name are to go through this transformation. No one encounters God’s love first hand and walks away the same person. I’m know I’M not the same person I was before I encountered His love. I used to be terrified of people, so much so that at group gatherings I was always the one sitting alone at the far end of the table with my head down in a sketchbook and often being told I spoke too quietly. I struggled with hate, violent thoughts, severe anxiety, and depression in massive amounts because I was verbally (sometimes physically) and emotionally abused by someone close to me who was an athiest and I didn’t trust people because I knew how good this person was at putting on an innocent face for people on the outside. I felt like a victim and would’ve done almost anything to make myself feel like I had some power.

God came in and transformed my heart. Mended all the broken places and lit up every dark corner in my spirit. Against everything my instincts was telling me, I obeyed my God and actually forgave and reconciled with this person and now he plans to get baptized this year after I watched the guilt of his actions rip him apart and God pieced him back together. Now he gives $50 tips to baristas. Last year I prayed over total strangers in the subway and on the street and that’s something I NEVER would have imagined myself doing in a million years! People who knew me back then noticed that I had really changed and I’d call it a miracle.

I used to read smutty fanfiction almost addictively and pondered the idea of having sex before I was married on the condition that I loved the person and planned to marry them, but after the change I didn’t want anything to do with any form of sexual interest outside of what He intended. It didn’t just change one area of my life, it changed my whole world!

Homosexuality is just one of the many symptoms of human brokeness. When a person is whole, there is no need for it. There is a hole in our hearts that we try to fill with the pleasures of this world but it will never satisfy us because God is the only One who can fill that void.

It’s not a matter of what I do or don’t accept and it’s not about changing to be accepted by Him, it’s a matter of saying “I recognize this longing in me for something more and this will never satisfy that hunger, but He CAN.”

Jesus said “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry.” Not hungry for love, acceptance or control and those who drink the living water will never go thirsty. In Him, all needs of the heart are met. <3
