i do trust you. none of you are in immediate physical danger from her, just intermittent emotional/psychological batshittery? is it ok if she was this bad from the start? is she…happy like this now? being a poison to everyone around her doesn’t seem like it wouldn’t be killing her slowly, too.

Oy vey. I haven’t got any good advice and you don’t know me so I dunno how effective internet hugs would be in this instance, but I think you’re doing the right thing and he’s doing the best he can with the solid support and respect of his choices you’re giving him. Just- ye gods.

yeah, it’s a mess. big old mess. My family...doesn’t function.  To the point where both Yon Nephew and I are actually exceedingly uncomfortable around His Lordship’s family because they actually are a family and function as one and we literally don’t have the equipment to process it. (which has lead to some frustratingly hilarious conversations as His Lordship always confusedly comes back with the fact his family isn’t perfect and all people have problems and sweetie, i love you but that’s not what I’m referring to.  You are the dawn telling midnight that your sun isn’t that bright)

what does she have to brag about when it sounds like she’s made a mess of everything in her life that she could have been proud of had she been reasonable from the start?

Because shes’ a screaming narcissist.  She’s rewriting the narrative in her head to make herself the hero or the victim and nothing is ever, ever her fault.

She isn’t a failure as a parent, she got a defective child.

Her son didn’t flee her house at 16 with the clothes on his back after years of psychological, emotional and sometimes physical abuse (the flashpoint being she said as soon as he was 17 she was allowed to kick him out and would, so he pulled the trigger first) , no, he’s an ungrateful brat who simply moved on to someone else he could mooch off, and oh, yes, i stole her son because I’ve always been tote jelly of her.   And I’ve also been buying his affections! (She actually said that, point blank, and that Yon Nephew was “swanking” about in his “Fancy new clothes” after I TOOK HIM TO FUCKING KMART ON AN EMERGENCY RUN BECAUSE HIS WARDROBE WAS LITERALLY ONE PAIR OF UNDERPANTS AND FOUR SHIRTS)

Her son won’t talk to her because I’ve poisoned him against her!  That’s why she won’t come around, not the fact that she damned well knows shes fucking banned from even setting foot on my land and I will reinforce this in the most physical manner I possibly can. (you fucking abuse your child, that is it.)

It's the same reason she claims she can’t have a stable relationship because she had a “Bad example” from our parents - who remained civil to the point of eventually falling in love again and remarrying,  and despite the fact that His Lordship and I have been together for 13 years and Younger Sibling and her husband have been together for 18 years. 

This is the same woman who tried to sabotage my bux night, actually told Younger Sibling she was “seriously considering not coming to her wedding” because she wasn’t asked to witness the wedding certificate (she’d been helping out with random wedding things and, I shit you not, actually used the phrase “I feel like I’m doing all the work and getting none of the payoff” in that  particular little epistle - and the reason bug asked me was because she’s an historian, it’s a historical document and she knew I’d brainmesh with her on the significance in that regard) has recently started up a seriously deranged and creepy fb campaign where she’s copying anything I do and post about (It’s not paranoia, it’s documented and the only reason I have her on the loosest of friend circles is so I get some sort of prior warning when she goes off the fucking rails) and prefers to think she’s the eternal victim and the whole world is against her, rather than consider for a moment that maybe  this has all come down because  she’s an abusive,  steaming sack of shit
