“And now for their first dance as a married couple, Mr and Mrs Hood!” the dj said into the microphone. Calum stood up, extending his hand to you and taking you to the middle of the dance floor. You expected music to start playing but nothing happened. Instead of signaling the dj to start your song, Calum walked to the dj booth, leaving you all alone with eyes staring from every direction. Calum quickly picked up the mic. “As you all know my wife… wow I’m actually saying wife, it’s so bizarre… but in a good way, of course! Well as I was saying, as you all know, (Y/N) is a massive Ed Sheeran fan but note than when I say massive I mean massive and one thing she always wanted to do was to attend an Ed Sheeran concert, but sadly the oportunity never came her way… Until now.” You just stood there confused. What did he mean with ‘until now’?
“Ladies and gentlemen, its an incredible pleasure and honour to present, the incredibly talented, Mr Ed Sheeran!” You gasped for air, completely speech and motionless. Calum hugged Ed and walking to you, sharing the same space in the middle of the dancefloor. You quickly grabbed him and hugged him as tightly as possible, just letting go when Ed spoke.
“Hi!…Thank you! Its a great pleasure to be here with the newly weds (Y/N) and Calum and by the way (Y/N) thank you for being a fan of mine, I hope to see you at one of my gigs soon!” “You and me both!” you said back, earing a laugh from Ed and your guests, as well as from Calum.
“This song is for you.”
(play) The lights dimmed and Ed began singing. Calum took his hand in yours, looking into your eyes. You quickly recognized the song as ‘I See Fire’, one of your favourites and smiled. When the song came out, you told Calum this song reminded you of him because his eyes were as dark as chocolate. They made you think of fire: warm and safe.
When Ed started playing the guitar, Calum placed his other hand on the back of you shoulder, swaying side to side, gaining a steady rhythm and dancing along the song Ed was performing. You both stayed like that for a few moments, as you wondered how he could have kept this from you. Surely he had help from the lads and the wedding planner but it was extremely hard to keep something this big from you because you always found out about it before the actual surprsie. But not this time.
He pulled you closer by the hip, resting his head next to yours, whispering the lyrics into your ear, still swaying. (don’t read until the chorus!) “Now I see fire, inside the mountain” you whispered back at him. “I see fire, burning the trees” he whispered back. “I see fire, hollowing souls” you whispered. “I see fire, blood in the breeze and I hope that you remember me” Calum sang. The lights dimmed down even more, lighting up a few fairy lights around Ed and around the room. Calum lifted his arm, allowing you enough space to spin slowly, showing everyone his beautlful wife from now until forever. He then pulled you slightly back to him, kissing you sofly. He whispered a simple “i love you” in your ear as the guests applauded the kiss you shared.
