16. Are they addicted to anything at all? Do they crave something when they haven’t had it in a while? Has this ever endangered them or others?

Not so much an addiction, but I imagine that the Freedom Fighters have seized Fire Nation alcohol from raiding the camps,  he and the older kids will drink it, let the younger ones have a little , and he’s got a bit of a tolerance built up, but no,  that’s more of an indulgence..Now, if he’d lived past 16, I could see a possible addiction to several vices (drugs, alcohol)..later in his life. (I think he misses some foods–he’s still a kid, so the jelly candy,Jien Duy , things like that–) 

The footsteps that came towards the room didn’t sound at all like Azula’s proud and confident stride.  It was a rather timid shuffle, creeping towards the room like she was frightened of going in.  Azula paused outside the door, smoothing her clothes down and running her fingers through her hair.  Her bangs had been neatened up, though they were still short.  She was determined to have her appearance perfect, though the haunted look in her somewhat sunken eyes did detract from that.  She’d been losing weight since she’d been taken to the asylum, and she also hadn’t been sleeping well.

Azula’s nightmares were twisted re-imaginings of her childhood, with Ozai and Ursa arguing over her and her life.  She was torn between the two of them, not sure which one of them she wanted to follow.  Ozai promised power but demanded perfection, Ursa offered love but at the cost of humility.  Ozai spoke of the divine right to rule, Ursa spoke of love.  Before her defeat in the Agni Kai with Zuko, she would have gone to Ozai’s side immediately, followed in his footsteps and revelled in his shadow.  Humility and acceptance had always been foreign concepts to her, even to the point of being repulsive.

Now…she wasn’t so sure.

The door opened and Azula paused in the doorway.  She was trying to look regal, trying to look like she hadn’t made up her mind whether or not she was going to deign to grace him with her presence.  She couldn’t pull off the look; she looked like a startled deer or perhaps a cornered mouse.  Her old persona had crumbled entirely.  When she spoke, her voice even cracked.  It didn’t come out as caustic as she’d intended it, in fact it didn’t sound harsh or cruel at all; she sounded tired, and very, very frightened.
