Arizona Allegiance Honorary is a student organization comprised of some of the most dedicated, spirited Wildcat fans. The organization has been a part of the UofA Campus since 1926 under the name of Traditions. After a short hiatus the group was reinstated as Arizona Allegiance.  Members are defined by their endless pride and enthusiasm for Wildcat sports and UA traditions! Throughout the year, Allegiance members attend athletics events (including every home football game) proudly sporting the signature tie. They enjoy lively weekly meetings, countless socials, fun-filled tailgates, road trips to away games, and promotion and facilitation of philanthropy events! Charged with promoting spirit, scholarship, and service to our community -focus is on involvement among students, faculty and alumni, and pride in keeping UA traditions alive! 

An easy way to think of an honorary is as a combination of a club and a Greek life organization. It is more selective in that members need to apply and complete the selection process per the honorary. The selection is peer-based, and approval of new members is decided by current ones. There are two types of honoraries, class and group. Class honoraries are groups of individuals in the same class level; there are freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior honoraries. The selection of new members is decided by the previous class and membership lasts one year. There are other honoraries that accept membership of all class standings and membership lasts the duration of the individuals course in undergraduate study.  Honoraries provide opportunities to learn about and promote the traditions of the University of Arizona. No other higher education institution has a set of groups like the honorary system. Honoraries can be an excellent alternative to Greek life, or a supplement, as it is much more affordable. The honorary system attracts much diversity and can act as a networking opportunity with the exposure to people that would otherwise be lost connections.
