mannnnnnnn I just wanna make video games! I fired up the HOMMIV toolset today and made this fun lil adventure start, just to see if I could remember everything from when I taught myself how to make custom maps when I was ten years old and--yep! Still got it! The hero has a backstory, you're given a story decision when you click on the town, one option results in a gameover screen... yeah. Still freakin' got it. And it's pretty, to boot.
So then I posted about it and was like "I used to make even more advanced stuff in the NWN toolset!" and then I was like what if I... tried to just remake this in NWN. What would that look like...? Well it's a lot less sparkly and a lot more moody, but it turned out cool as hell.
And here are some shots from it running:
All in all, a nice evening, reminding myself that I sure do still know how to do all this, level design, plot concept, characters, lighting, sound, clutter objects, writing and making dialogue trees functional, quests and flags and what have you. And this was a child who learned this. I want to illustrate assets like those little flags, I want to move my NPC into a better spot bc when I played it I realized he was behind the tree when you get up the cliff to see him. I want to MAKE GAMES I just don't know how to CODE and I don't know how to 3D model, so I have no way of getting a gamedev job.
