Okay, like I know a lot of people have beef with HS2, but here's why I'm liking it so far.
-Dirk, RoboRose and Terezi: There's this whole nostalgia trip and recap of info we learnt in the first comic, mixed in with a stupid amount of morality. Dirk's 'not-mind control' and Rose's sudden lack of empathy. The abominations they're creating in the sake of progress. Terezi is the most human voice on that planet, and they know they're playing the bad guy in the name of progress. It's a really interesting look at playing God.
-Meat spaceship crew: Its all your faves in one place, and it's super interesting. We get that wholesome Davekat relationship we've been craving, as well as getting a deeper look into Jade (tbh I didn't like her in the first comic or epilogues, but since that fight with Calliope, I love her). Roxy is figuring out all the gender stuff but it's not front and centre? And that's refreshing. And my goddess queen Kanaya. I am SO ready for when she and Rose reunite. I am heavily invested in that conversation, no matter what way it sways.
-Candy: Isn't this just like, the perfect OCs as kids fanfic going? This weird futuristic suburban AU makes me happy, but also, it's chock full of things I'm super interested in. The fact that Vriska is getting involved. The fact that Dave and Dirk are nowhere to be found. The fact that Karkat got what he thinks he always wanted. And YIFFANY. And the fact that the whole Jane Crocker is world ruler and will edit the media to shine in her point of view which is anti-troll is a really interesting mirror to current events no matter how you look at it.
I see people ripping it apart as a dumb fan story but honestly? I think I prefer this. As different and strange as it is, I'm super invested in the journey and the outcomes.
