DnD Worldbuilding - Notollia
The world of Notollia is dominated by a single continent surrounded by an ocean of deep water. The bedrock is soft, made of limestone and chewed through by erosion into a maze of caves. While most of the caves on the upper layers have been explored and mined out for minerals ,miles of lower tunnels have yet to be uncovered. Merchants will pay good coin to adventure who are willing to explore the depths and chart new passages hoping they will find the next vein of gold or uncovered treasures. Exploration is hard as many of the caves are unstable prone to collapse while others are filled with salt water leeched in from the ocean. At the lowest depths hordes of Notollian goblins thrive and attack travelers eating them alive if captured. They have grayish skin, and are blind using vibrations to sense movement. They live in primitive hovels of stone and use crude or stolen tools. They take prisoners for sacrifice bringing them to a supposed temple rumored about by escaped prisoners, but never seen, rumors of the deep crypts caves. The deep crypt caves are supposedly giant vaults of smooth black stone ,endless watery halls ,pulsing light and an alter of rotating alien glass. Told again and again by the escape's they claim the alter is intelligent taking the sacrificed to another realm but no one knows for sure. While many have tried to retrace there steps to find these legendary halls no one thus far has been able to find the deep crypts. Some towns are built over the caves using the passages to connect houses and secret tunnels. Thieves and cult use the caves to smuggle black market goods or preform rituals, leaving local magistrates to flush out the caves with the local guard or hire adventure, though most cults just go deeper...often escaping justice. The surface is covered in fungal forests that grow similar to pines in shape. Often colored red, green and browns, they are soft and thrive in the damp climate of the planet, making poor building material forcing the Federation to build there towns with limestone brick or imported material. However the forests can be mined for earth gel and along the coast 100s of mining platforms draw in water gel from the sea. The ocean is mostly occupied by red tube worms that can grow into the size of whales. While mostly feeding off plankton some have been known to attack small ships or probe the coast looking for swimmers. Deeper, the water of the ocean becomes more a sludge as it seems to mix with an ooze like substance known as Helbrine. The ooze seems to leak from other dimensions and takes on ghostly shapes of faces and demons, sometimes forming into nonspeaking horrors from far dimensions, a far realm far that sometimes gets just a little two close to reality and leaks in raw insanity. At the center of the continent a huge blast creator scars the landscape into a barren wasteland void of any life. Made of red glass, the basin is filled with the skeletal remains of anything living that tries to enter. As if hit by a powerful necromancy spell, any who do enter wither and collapse in seconds leaving most to wonder about the swirling red storm at the center. Like a massive tornado of churning energy, voices are heard in the thunder and shapes are seen in the lighting flashes. While some think the deep crypts and Helbrine are connected to the red storm in truth no one knows, what is certain is the reality on the world of Notollia is cracking and no one knows what will happen once it shatters. the vast majority of the inhabitants live on the horizontal cog, which has topography taken by the sisterhood of goddesses from planes of elemental creation.
Sixir is the goddess of magic, intellect and the head of the sisterhood of goddesses. She is known as the Cogshaper because she made the realm.
Art by @lnr_lavish
The cog is surrounded by an aethersphere, a bubble of realmspace under the goddess control. There is no comparable sun, but a light and dark side of the sphere itself. the cog has five moons, one associated with each of the goddesses.

the vertical cog is very hard to travel to, surrounded by hundreds of miles of freezing temperatures. the vertical cogs itself is home to creatures originally native to other realms, angels, devils, demons and those in between.
Sixir is still venerated, but her position at the head of the sisterhood is questionable, around five hundred years before the present day of 1117, she suffered a period of volatility known as the madness of Sixir
IMPERIAL FEDERATION
DOLIAN
The world of Dolian is a planet dominated by one large bottomless ocean. wild storms rage across the surface making the water choppy and dangerous, with many ships sinking below the waves. While some try to find the missing vessels to salvage its cargo, the ocean bottom is miles deep at the shallows and near endless everywhere else. Attempts to mark the depths have been attempted but even ropes 3000ft feet in length have found no ocean floor, leaving many to wonder what is at the bottom.
Sheets of organic material float upon the surface of the ocean. While mostly an algae like substance,They appear to have eyes and limited intelligence. The eyes will move focusing on objects and the sheets swim together in a swarm often away from danger.
Rising throughout the ocean are forests of black spires , dozens to 100s of feet tall. found in clusters no one is sure what causes the rocky formations to form as the stone seems to have no magical properties, nor if they even reach the bottom of the ocean.
While legends claim the spirea are part of some thorny sea creature truthfully no one knows as what lurks in the bottomless depths remain a mystery.
However the few dives that reached the bottom, report city's of black pyramids and pylons. the material is impervious to damage and the structures seem to hum. While no one has brought proof to the surface of there existence, sailors report strange lights that move in the depths and unexplained frothing of the sea as if something is stirring below.
Cults of the sea worship the mysterious of the ocean, building temples to the creatures of the deep. While sacrifice is illegals many believe the cults bring humans offers as tribute , feeding the ancient sea monsters, to keep them at rest.
The sky is lit up by intense solar storms that rage across the heavens. The pulsing of lightning flashes at all times of day and is bright enough to see by at night. During the greatest of the storms, Hair stands up on end and metal sparks.
A few islands dot the surface the land covered in thick trunk like plants budding with leaves and berries. The berries are edible but sour and the leaves can induce itching is exposed.
The islands do support other life but it is often small animals and the land is poor for farming. Diets are mostly fish and the organic soup floating on the ocean, revolting to outsiders but the rubbery texture is said to be pleasant by the locals. While many live on the islands, most work on the mining platforms built across the ocean harvesting mostly water gel . While some gel gets turned into elemental oil, vast amounts of water gel is used on the more arid worlds of the Federation to irrigate land and provide the people drinkable water.
