I love your take on the lake guardians. It's sad that so many people seem to forget about them, especially considering what their powers mean for the lore of the Pokémon world in general. Being the reason humans possess wisdom, emotions and willpower and them being able to take that away again is such an interesting concept to explore!
Though I do wonder why people tend to forget them. Maybe its their design or the fact that Diamond/Pearl came out in 2006/2007. So maybe that will change with the new Sinnoh remake. Hopefully.
Thank you!! I big agree, they’re really important to the lore and yet I hardly ever see people talking about them, which is pretty sad.
It probably is due to the fact that their debut games are nearly 15 years old, so the majority of fans likely haven’t played since they were kids.
With the remake coming out, it’s possible people will be able to see the story with a fresh perspective and maybe come to appreciate characters and Pokémon they hadn’t before. I know I only recently started to appreciate how excellently written Cyrus’ character is in Platinum, so the same can go for any other aspect of the game, including the Pokémon DPPT introduced :)
And I bet Legends: Arceus will also shed some light on the Sinnoh myths. We already know Arceus is gonna be in it, but what’s him without Dialga, Palkia and Giratina? And the lake guardians, who are said to also be created by him?
There will likely be a huge lore dump in these new Sinnoh games, and hopefully it will make people appreciate the lake trio and all their influence on the origin of the Pokémon world. Cause it’s really interesting stuff imo, and more people should talk about it.
