we also have a beautiful kite festival. unfortunately i’ve never been able to experience it but someday i will.
ffs i can’t find my own post for it on mobile, but anyway it’s a recurring issue for me to not really know what home is for myself and i’ll be in my house and think i wanna go home when technically i’m in my home. and it’s smth i’ve explored a lot lately in my art coursework and i wanna say it’s come up recently for lots of people during quarantine too and obviously it’s a big thing for those struggling with identity and belonging but yeah anyway i’m finding that i think you can have different homes and that ‘home’ a lot of the time is with a person or people but primarily it’s because of the connection. i think a ‘home’ or a feeling of being home is defined by a connection, hopefully positive, whether it’s a memory, a person, a physical similarity, a love for a part of it - just some form of connection.
i have different homes in different people, among my friends, among my family, among the art department and studios, within a lot of south africa, places that remind me a lot of east london too, and i think there’s more that i will discover and even more that i will build or continue to develop.
yeah i think home is not one place, though it can be, and home is about connection. and i think that the feeling i get when ‘i wanna go home’ is just wanting to feel a connection to someone or something.

back home 😍 oh has it been an adventure to get here. lots and lots of planning and it hasn’t been easy, but it feels so good. back with my friends and family and my beach. had my pre-employment processing appointment yesterday and i start officially at the hospital in about 2 weeks and get the keys to my apartment tomorrow 💓 change is scary, but also worth it.
