In the beginning...
Despite what the holy texts say, woman did not begin subservient to man. All early cultures saw women as mystical and magical, god-like creators of life in the closest likeness of the All Mighty Creator herself, birthing life from within her body. These early cultures revered the sacred Goddess Mother, Earth Mother, Mother Nature, Gaia, the one who birthed All That Is. There is no shortage of creation myths focused on a Mother creator, a Goddess, a female that spun, birthed, or otherwise brought into being the natural world and it’s inhabitants. The earliest of the early indigenous cultures were all Goddess cultures with figurines, temples, and symbolism that clearly indicated their respect for and adoration of the fertility and life giving forces of a Mother Creator that not only created life, but provided for the needs of all via a natural world brimming over with abundant resources. Â
Despite this deep reverence for the feminine, there was no hierarchy of one sex over another, or of one species over another as there is within patriarchal culture. Goddess culture was not a domination culture, it was a partnership culture that was egalitarian, peaceful, and artistic above all else. Â
