Astra

She casts aside the shroud of her hood with a deft flick, exposing a head of flaxen locks. Softness contours her features, yet from certain angles there is a sharpness that almost makes you do a doubletake. It appears to you like two different faces; one she means for the world to see, and one that comes through despite her efforts to keep it hidden.

Cirern

Time always seemed to haunt him. Its cruel disregard for the mortals in its path, the memories made that refused to leave and the anticipation of the unknown to come – it all hung over him like a heavy cloak he couldn’t remove. Like a ruler burdened with the knowledge that their life first and foremost is not their own, but that of their people.

Wren

“These...people would fail to tell a loved one from an impostor if their lives depended on it.” Wren closes their eyes and lets out a vexed sigh, a mirthless smile playing at the edges of their lips. “That’s where the Institute – and I – come in.”

Muir

“You needn’t be afraid.” For the first time since you met him, a spark of excitement appeared in Muir’s eyes. “This was meant to happen.”
