Tender Tuesday! The most tender part in one of my WIPS called Neon Beasts is when one of my characters Cruz, and his old flame, Izan, get to talking about why their relationship ended. The talk is strenuous, and emotionally draining but in the end Izan reaches over and his hand hovers over Cruz's, asking for permission. They hold hands for the first time in forever, the first tender touch they've shared since they broke up. "For what its worth, I never really stop loving you, I don't think I ever will," Izan whispers, and while Cruz can't think of anything to say Izan knows he feels the same
Cruz!! My beloved!!
But oof my guy, this is a heavy kind of tender, isn't it? But still so good! That it's been so long and they finally get to have this kind of closure, to put all their cards on the table and get answers that have probably been eating at them for years!!
And that hesitation, the asking for permission, the confession
Do they stay in touch? Like even if they're "not meant to be", that they can't have what they once did, do they stay in each other's lives or eventually go separate ways for good? They both sound so soft and sweet, and I hate things have to be this way for them, this exchange is just so good!
(Also I love this title)
