Diana walked out of the Hammerlocke gym, her nose in her notepad. She had signed up to battle Raihan tomorrow for the gym challenge, since all of the time slots had been filled for the day, and Raihan had finished his last battle.

“Right. Just need to find the hotel, where we can get some sleep and get some last minute training in,” Diana mused, before she looked at Kairi, her Primarina that had been by her side since Alola. “Too bad Rose said I couldn’t have you battle, otherwise this would be a clean sweep.”

Kairi let out a squeaky chuckle at that, and looked over her owner’s shoulder as Diana pulled out a map.

“Now, where did we have to go again?”

“Pri-mari!”

               honestly, piers is pretty used to raihan staring at this point. falls a bit into his ‘ unnoticed ’ category, like the hum of his amp or flickering lights overhead. but not quite. nah —— piers has never truly mastered the art of ignoring rai. can’t.

               so instead of letting himself get flustered under raihan’s blazing attention ( as he tends to do ), he plays a reverse uno card —— sticks his tongue out. take that. two can play, big boy, let’s dance.

               nothing puts piers in a deliriously good mood like playing his damn heart out, no matter where he is. a midnight jam session in the bowels of spikemuth or a midday impromptu street performance on a corner of hammerlocke. after all, if a street artist notices him enjoying their music, how can he resist an invitation to join? ( and marnie likes to make fun of him for always having his mic stand —— it comes in handy sometimes. ) and as he wiggles his way out of the crowd they gathered, piers is still smiling, even as he stumbles across some familiar ( ridiculous, flamboyant ) sneakers with his eyes to the ground.
