𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐇.

𝚁𝙰𝙸𝙷𝙰𝙽 𝙰𝙹𝙰𝙶𝙰𝚁𝙰  is a marine biologist traveling aboard the aurora ;   he fronts as a simple phasegate engineer,  but his true purpose is investigating the crash-landing of the degasi and researching the bacterium suspected to be flourishing on planet 4546b.     having been raised in the mongolian state,  he has a deeply personal connection to the missing degasi crew,  something that alterra seems to be counting on.     philosophical,  prone to flights of fancy,  and deeply religious despite his passion for science,  he is an oddball among his alterra-based shipmates,  and has made few friends during his time aboard the aurora.     during the aurora’s slingshot maneuver around the marine planet,  raihan is preparing to deploy to the planet’s surface when an explosion rocks the ship ;   he barely has enough time to grab the nearest person and leap into a lifepod before the aurora enters the planet’s atmosphere.     now,  stranded on an alien planet that is a veritable smorgasbord of research,  raihan sets forth with a three-pronged mission  ——  to uncover what became of the crashed ships and their crew,  to study the bacterium that appears to have taken hold of the planet,  and to find a way for himself and his companion to return to alterra space.

raihan is unlucky enough to have saved  𝙿𝙸𝙴𝚁𝚂 𝙵𝙻𝚄𝙴𝙻𝙻𝚈𝙽 ,  a budding rock-star aboard the aurora as a civilian passenger.     his destination is a densely-populated planet in the same solar system where the aurora is building its newest phasegate ;   he has planned a series of concerts across the planet,  and intends to return to alterra space aboard the aurora once the phasegate has been completed.     of course,  being stranded on a marine outpost planet has thrown a wrench into those plans,  and all he wants to do is get home to his little sister.     grounded,  mature,  and surprisingly intellectual despite his rebellious and fiery on-stage persona,  piers is easily able to keep raihan on task despite the latter’s tendancy to get lost in his research ;   and though it appears he has little to offer his companion in the way of technical skill,  piers conceals a secondary talent  ——  he is an incredibly capable pilot and machinist,  able to understand the functions of alterra tech at a glance and more than capable of piloting a cyclops on his own.     he has rescued raihan from dangerous waters on more than one occasion,  and has even rigged up a two-person seamoth after too many tight squeezes in the submarine’s tiny cabin.     he is not a strong swimmer due to his mass of thick black and white hair :   maybe that’s why raihan has implored him to stay out of the water ...

⤷     raihan is an open and welcoming person who isn’t naturally suspicious of people like piers is,  so i think he’d give atticus the benefit of the doubt  ( circumstantial friendship ) ... but i don’t know how authentic their friendship would be  ( fake friends / frenemies ) ,   especially with leon involved.     either way,  raihan is the good influence,  or would try to be.     he cares a lot about leon and despite his jealousy he would want the best for him,  and would try to spur atticus in that direction.

⤷     concept :   atticus recognizing raihan’s potential as future champion and turning his attention to him,  initially from a business standpoint.     that’s the only way i can see anything romantic happening,  and it wouldn’t be genuine or healthy at all.     but i love rping toxic stuff so shrug emoji

⤷     i can see atticus being a sort of wealth role model for raihan.     rai himself is quite wealthy,  though it’s inherited wealth :   i think he would admire atticus from a financial / business perspective and come to him for advice in these matters.     it’s funny that piers shits on the one percent but is best friends / dating part of the one percent.

          galahad hits the ground with an almighty crash,  and there’s a brief pause before the crowd goes wild.     leon’s name ricochets around the stadium like a wild  ROLLOUT,  and the champion strikes a triumphant pose as the dragonkeeper withdraws his exhausted duraludon back into its ultra ball.     his old rival’s grin is exhilarated but tentative as raihan crosses the pitch to congratulate him ;   the dragon-tamer’s handshake is firm but his smile is hollow,  and he feels leon’s concerned gaze on his back as he makes his way back to the locker room to  sulk.

          raihan is no stranger to the empty feeling after a match with leon,  but he  loathes  looking bad in front of  A CERTAIN SOMEONE  in the stadium seats.

          rotom stirs him from his stormy thoughts and dutifully displays the message for him to read.     you looked really good today.     raihan feels the corners of his lips twitch upwards into another smile,  this one a bit less hollow than the one he’d given leon :   piers is sparing with his compliments,  and it’s certainly strange,  but not unwelcome,  to receive one  now  of all times.     it’s almost as if piers knew he needed to hear something other than leon’s name echoing around the stands.     raihan wipes his sweaty sand-blasted palms on his shorts before gently snagging excalibur out of the air to text his own reply,  rather than asking the rotom-phone to type the message for him.
