Family: They are totally married and all but However they wish to define themselves, their Great Dane completes them. Brings back the sense of purpose to the former demon king when he inevitably grows fond of it for its overall size, affection and clear intellect, and strangely enough not the one punishing him for his misbehaving. Vergil’s taken that mantle. A tag team when it comes to training him, Mundus is the one spending the most time with him and spoiling him with treats and toys.
Pet names: Even though their former roles toward each other are no longer in place, they still address each other as if Vergil is still in servitude to Mundus. “Master” from the blue devil and “My Angel” from the incandescent one, though now the weight on them is more jovial and loving. It’s their “darling”, “sweetie”, “honey”, etc. Nelo Angelo’s hesitation to address his master by name can coincides with Mundus later on down the road where he rejects his feelings/never outright calling it what it is for Vergil until he can’t any longer and in one passionate encounter just whispers his name against his skin until it was normal to say with affectionate intentn.
Alpha and Omega: In making Nelo Angelo, nearly all of Vergil’s identity was inhibited and sealed from his soul but a fair amount of his character still exists outside of that. His sense of honor, for example. Either out of familiarity or habit some actions or objects of interest still permeate as natural to the Demon Knight, these traits ironically being the very thing that made N.A., Vergil, ultimately attractive to the Demon King.They have learned to love each other as they are without the presence of Sparda between them and the controversy his legacy puts on both of them. It’s a mutual understanding of their individuality, their actions and reactions, their wishes, their neglect and their fears. They have been tied to each other for decades and pride is no longer an obstacle. Even though Vergil freed himself from the control and restored himself and his humanity, he came back for Mundus. Sparda is now just one of those things they will deal with when they are ready to venture back into the events of the past, so until then that is also where he will remain. Mundus no longer addresses Vergil as “Son of Sparda” and bring the Dark Knight up as if he is not Vergil’s father lest he allows his aggrieved temperament for the former Knight of Hell remain an impairment on him or his ability to understand Vergil’s selfhood (and have to endure being berated for the umpteenth time because of it). Almost in the same breath Vergil can speak of him as a milestone he has surpassed but understand he is able to do so when he accepts both sides of his identity and the desires in his heart.

True enough, or well, nelo died this way. I do tend to draw a line between him and Vergil, even tho to Dante it looked like it was Vergil
but nelo angelo was vergil tho ???? if nelo n vergil aren’t the same where the heck did vergil go after he jumped into hell for a few odd years.
