i am definitely Team Disappointed About OT3 Handling but just wanna toss out the greatest evidence against canon OT3 is not the relationship with Maria (poly doesn’t mean “exactly three people who all date each other equally” and Eliot in particular had a fling or three in Original Leverage), but the later bit where Eliot is all “gee it’s so hard to find someone to be Romantic with when our jobs are Like This :(”

and even that doesn’t need to be interpreted as “and that’s rough because i’m lONELY”, it can just as easily be “and that’s rough because i would like one (1) significant other i’m not also literally working with, i love y’all, i do, but love + work is notoriously not easy and we are not the exception.”

and okay maybe i’m just clinging to any shred of hope here but i’ve just always headcanoned Parker/Hardison as being more interested in long-term, stable relationships than Eliot; he might be in a long-term relationship with them but as an exception to his general preference for more casual relationships (which may or may not be a genuine preference as opposed to a defense mechanism against getting some innocent person involved in his dangerous life), and that’s not their thing but they’re okay with it being his thing, and trying for something a bit more serious once with someone who can take care of herself if shit does get dangerous doesn’t mean he’s breaking up with Parker/Hardison and/or never ~really~ loved them.
