“Where are you going?”  Dean asked two nights after the panty incident.

“I have to work.  You know you’re not really my boyfriend, it's just for the wedding next weekend?”  Frankie reminded him.  Since their agreement, Dean had started to act like they were really dating.  He was always asking where she was going, and he would cook for both of them.

“It’s 11:30 p.m.!”  Dean emphasized as if it should mean that she shouldn’t be going out.  He was right in away.  If Frankie held a normal job she shouldn’t be going out this late.  But she didn’t have a normal job and she needed to go make a point for the family.

“We’re in the middle of a corporate take-over kind of thing. It’s hard to explain”  Frankie brushed off his concern.  “I’ll be back late.”  They were going to have issues as roommates if he kept asking her where she was going all the time.  On the other hand, Frankie did enjoy looking at him.  She got in her car and drove to her meeting.

“Francis!  It’s wonderful to see you!”  The older woman at the door greeted her.

“Hello, Veronica.  It’s nice to see you too,”  Frankie let the woman hug her then escort her inside.  “I’m sorry that I’m here so late, but the don asked me to meet with your son.”  Veronica cursed softly in Italian.

“What did he do this time?”  Veronica put her hands up between them.  “Nevermind I don’t want to know.  He’s up there,’  She pointed up the stairs.

“Thank you.”  Frankie went up the stairs before opening a slightly decorated door.  “Johnny,”

“Frankie?  What are you doing here?!”  Johnny exclaimed as he turned to cover something on a desk with his body then wipe at his nose.

“Your Godfather is disappointed with you.  I think you know why,”  She nodded to the desk he was hiding.  “He sent me to help you.”

“To kill me is more likely.  Who else does he want you to kill?  Come on, Frankie, you’re better than this.  We used to be good friends.”

“I’m not here to kill you, Johnny.  And we didn’t stop being friends because of my job.  Give your coke and the name of your supplier.  Your Godfather has a room for you at a good rehab center.”

“I can’t do that, Frankie.  He’ll kill me,”  Johnny rubbed his nose again.

“Please tell me you didn’t snort it all,”  Frankie sighed.

“I don’t have any more here,”  Johnny protested too quickly.  Frankie walked up to him slowly and looking around the room.  Johnny had let his guard down slightly as Frankie’s shoulders slumped slightly.  That’s when she struck him in the face and caught him before he hit the floor.

She saw the coke on the table and opened the top drawer to find the rest of the bag and a phone number.  She took Johnny’s phone and text the supplier begging for a meet.  Then gathered the paraphernalia and Johnny.

“Veronica, can you get some clothes together for Johnny?  He’s gonna go stay at South Pines,”  Frankie said to the old woman who was wiping at tears.  “He’s gonna be okay, the Don’s getting him help.”

“Thank you,”  Veronica came and hugged Frankie tightly.  “Here come back when you’ve got him all situated.  I have some leftovers for you.”

“Oh, thanks!”  Frankie said with a smile.

Frankie sighed in relief when she got back to her house.  Dean was in his room and she assumed he was asleep.  She put her food in the fridge and then took a shower hoping to get the blood and smell of smoke off her body from dealing with the drug dealer.

6 Months Earlier

“Hey, Winchester!”  The police chief called from his office.  Dean stood and looked over at the older man before picking up his gear and papers and going to his office.

“Yes, sir?”  Dean asked, taking notice of the board with information about the Barbieri crime family.

“I’m gonna get straight to the point.  I need you to go undercover,”  The chief said without beating around the bush.  “The Barbieri family is making a laughing stock of this department, and we need any lead that we can.”

“How are you going to get me on the inside?”  Dean asked putting his papers down.  “We’ve never had a way to get someone on the inside before.”

“We believe the family has hired a new clipper,”  The chief said.  “We think they aren’t fulling in with the family, and that might give us space to work with.”

“So what you want me to go make friends with the guy?”  Dean asked thinking it would be a think connection.  “What’s their name?”

“Frankie Esposito, I’ve got a picture,”  The chief turned to the wall and looked at it for a minute.

“A Sicilian?”  Dean asked upon hearing the name.

“It is odd for the family, but I guess times are rough, here it is.  We are gonna need you to go a little deeper than making a friend.”  The chief handed Dean a picture of a brunette woman.  “Francine Constance Esposito, twenty-five.  Here’s your cover ID, Dean Smith, small town mechanic.  You recently moved here from Lawrence Kansas after a recent break up and you’re looking to get a clean start.”

“Smith?  Seriously?  If she is with the family, she won’t go for someone who isn’t Italian,”  Dean said looking at the papers with his identity.

“Let’s face it, Dean.  You can’t pass for an Italian.  You can tell your partner, but no one else that you are undercover or investigating the Barbieri family.”

“Yes, sir.”  Dean took his items and his orders and left his father’s office.

“Hey brother,”  Benny said as Dean approached his desk.  “Rough time in the old man’s room?”

“He gave me an assignment.  I need to talk to you about but no one else.”  The two of them walked to an isolated area and Dean explained the situation.

“Your dad wants you to sleep with the new hitman for the Barbieri family?  Is he insane?”  Benny whispered in the harshest tone he could.  “Wait, isn’t your brother the lawyer for the Barbieri family?”

“Yeah,”  Dean sighed nodding the rubbing his face with his hand.   “Total conflict of interest, but the Chief isn’t interested in that, just results.”

“How can I help brother?”  Benny asked placing a hand on Dean’s shoulder.

“I need to know everything that I can about Frankie Esposito,”  Dean said as they walked back to their desks.

“What’s your cover again?”  Benny asked.

“Mechanic at a local shop, at least my dad knows what my strengths are.  But get this, she put an ad out for roommate,”  Dean chuckled.  “I move in tomorrow.”

“Miss Esposito?”  Dean asked as he knocked on the door of the small house.  A shorter brunette woman, matching the picture Dean had seen, answered the door.

“Mr. Smith?”  She asked looking up at him.  Her brown hair fell in loose wavy curls down her shoulders and her green eyes sparkled in the sunlight.

“That’s me.  I’ve got my stuff in the truck and only a couple hours before I have to pay for the next day.  You mind me going in and out before we have a chance to get to know each other?”  Dean asked jabbing a thumb over his shoulder at the rental truck.

“Yeah that’s fine,”  Frankie said before turning away and putting some shoes on.

“What are you doing?”  Dean asked.

“You obviously have a lot of stuff and a short time, I’ll help you,”  Frankie said as he came out of the house and they started to unload the truck.  The work went surprisingly quickly.  Frankie focused on pieces that were smaller, things she could lift and move easily.  There was no showing off or trying to do too much with her, and Dean found he appreciated that.

“So smith is really your name?”  She asked sitting down on the couch with a cool drink when they had finished unloading everything.

“Yeah, I know its common.  But it can’t be any more common than Esposito.  Isn’t that like the most common Italian name?”  Dean asked taking a drink.

“My family came by it after the volcano erupted and left someone down the line an orphan,”  She said then smirked at him.

“I’m gonna go get the truck back, do you have a key so I don’t have to bother you when I get back?”  He asked grabbing his wallet and such to leave.

“Yeah hang on,”  Frankie stood up and retrieved a key for him.  “It opens all the doors to the house,”  She rattled off the number for the garage door opener as well.  “I have some work to do tonight so I probably won’t be here when you get back.”

“Good to know,” Dean said, taking a quick look around before heading out of the house.

Frankie was right.  When Dean got back from dropping off the truck she was gone.  He parked the Impala in the garage and went inside hoping to do some sneaking around.

“What are you doing?”  Frankie’s voice surprised Dean.  He had been looking through all of her things for a while now and had lost track of how long it had been.  Dean looked up at her and pulled his hands out of the drawer that he was looking through and accidentally caught a pair of slinky panties on his thumb.

“Uh, this isn’t what it looks like!”  Dean cried as he dropped the panties in a hurry and put his hands behind his back guiltily.  “Unless it looks like I was raiding your panty drawer.  Cause I was kinda doing that.”

“Yeah, that looked like it was exactly what it looked like.  What were you hoping to find?”  Frankie asked rolling her eyes and laughing at him.

“Um, this is gonna sound ridiculous.  But my last roommate turned out to be a closet drug dealer.  He hid everything in his sock drawer,”  Dean rubbed a hand up the back of his neck.

“Well I don’t know if you noticed, but there aren’t any drugs.  And there aren’t any socks in there either,”  Frankie teased as she walked over and twined her arm with his and walked him out of her room.  “You know this awkward situation right off the bat to our roomie-hood is probably a good thing.  Maybe you can help me with something?”

“Maybe I can, how can I help?”  Dean asked not breaking contact in the hopes that he wouldn’t come off too aggressive but expressing his interest.

“I have a meeting next weekend for work, but I need a date,”  Frankie said with a slight blush.

“You have a work meeting that you need a date for?”  Dean asked feigning ignorance on who she worked for.

“Yeah, well you see they're like one big family and it’s a wedding,”  She shrugged in slight discomfort.  “But you would have to pretend to be my boyfriend.”

“How did it go?”  Frankie asked two weeks later when the guard left her alone in the visitor room with Sam.

“They agreed to throw out the evidence, based on reasonable doubt, but Frankie when they let you out, Dean is gonna make a bigger play for you,”  Sam said as he sat down at the table.

“Well then, I’ll have to deal with him,”  Frankie shook her head.  “Not like that,”  She replied upon seeing Sam’s look of shock.

“If you end the relationship with him, he might take whatever he’s found out so far and use that in a case against you.  Force you to work for him as an informant, I’ve seen it before,”  Sam sighed.

“Then you’ll have to get me out of here,”  Frankie grinned as she jested with the lawyer.

“I’m serious Frankie.  The family will never take you back if they find out you were dating a cop.  What are you going to do?”  Sam asked, adjusting his hands and brushing his knuckles against hers.

“Mr. Winchester, are you showing concern for my well being beyond what you are being paid for?  Cause the family probably wouldn’t appreciate it if their lawyer caught feelings for one of their employees,”  She reached out and curled two fingers against his hand.  “If the Don ever found out that your brother was a cop they’d kill you both.”

“I know, that’s why I’ve never said anything.  I’ve made a decision,”  Sam announced as he stood up abruptly.  Frankie turned her head up to look at the very tall man.  “I’m going to help you escape,”  And with that, he leaned down and kissed her deeply before exiting the secured room.

Frankie sat there for a moment stunned before she heard Sam talking to the guard outside the room.  He was buying her time.  She tongued the small key that Sam had just passed to her out of her cheek and leaned forward to grab it with her hands that were handcuffed to the table in front of her.  She chuckled as she used the key that Sam had probably gotten from his brother to unlock her handcuffs before standing from the table and walking to the door.

The guard that Sam was talking to had his back to the door and Frankie took her opportunity.  With the handcuffs, she pulled them under the guard's neck and pulled his back to her until she applied enough pressure to incapacitate the heavyset man.

“I hope you were stalling so that I could join you,”  Frankie teased Sam as he took the guards keys to get them out of the building.  “Do you have a plan to get me out of here?  Cause I don’t think the front door is going to work.”

“I have a plan, do you trust me?”  He asked, grabbing her hand.

“With my life,”  She responded before being lead to where a serious commotion was taking place.  She recognized several of the people in the scuffle at the County lockup as people that Sam had represented.  Sam led her past all of that and pulled her into the main bathroom just past where the rest of the guards should have been stationed.

“Put on those clothes,”  Sam pointed.  “There is a wig in there too.”

“Apparently my case wasn’t going as well as you thought it was,”  Frankie smirked as she stripped her clothes off and put on the new apparel.

“The don said you were getting out or you were committing suicide.  I had to make a choice,”  Sam said without looking at her.  “Hurry up before the riot ends.”

“Ready,”  Frankie said.  She wasn’t a very convincing blonde, but she had seen people get away with worse.  “Now what?”

“Now you walk out the front door.  Should be fine,”  Sam handed her a visitor’s badge and walked out of the bathroom.  Frankie shrugged and donned the lanyard before walking past all the cops and out of the sheriff’s office.  She found Sam parked not far away and got into the car with him.

“Let’s get the hell out of here,”  She said, and Sam drove to her apartment.
