As I am sure you all can imagine, I am quite pleased to announce that I have gotten a Lava Lamp. Such an incredible and warm thing. It seems to be slow and soothing, very warm. I love the purple and blue one we’ve had, but I’ve gotten an orange and purple one, and it keeps the room light without me having to do it.

Nuance: "based in" = "based in a world identical to" OR "based in a world heavily inspired by"
I personally read it as being based in a USA-centric world. But in the groupchat, someone pointed out that a lot of the features of the HITCS universe are more reflective of 20th Century UK, not USA. So now I'm curious how others experienced the book.

The music guy getting the ferry over to the island to personally deliver Lucy some new music
He knows Lucy likes music by dead people & he knows he likes The Day The Music Died as a general theme
So when he got this album in he knew the kid would like it
He goes over and surprises Lucy with an early delivery of his usual music & then holds this new one up
"This one isn't dead yet, but he sings about dead people. Wanna give it a go?"
Lucy's sceptical but Arthur encourages him to try
And the guy (I CANT REMMEVER HIS NAME IM SORRY) put it onto the track he knows the kid will like
Then Don McLean is singing about american pie and the day the music died
And Lucy absolutely melts
After that, the guy moves the arm and puts on Vincent
And then Don is crooning on about a starry, starry night
And Lucy is just sitting there with his chin in his hands listening to it with heart eyes
He gets to keep the album & Arthur & Linus both thank the record guy for being so thoughtful
As he's leaving, Lucy yells - "MORE MUSIC OF PEOPLE SINGING ABOUT DEAD PEOPLE PLEASE"
To Lucy: SURE THING LIL DUDE
To Arthur, once they're out of earshot, since Lucy is putting the record to the start to listen through: anything he's not allowed??
Arthur: as long as it's not graphic, it's allowed
The guy goes back on the ferry and Arthur goes back to his kids
Lucy has a new favourite record
