As I'm sure you can tell, I'm quite the city girl, and while some might say it's overrated, NYC will always have my heart. One of my favorite, inexpensive attractions that Manhattan has to offer are the highlines, which are a series of old train track beautifully curated into a somewhat nature preserve, above the busy city streets. The highlines have plenty to offer, one of which happens to be one of the most interesting interactions I've ever had with a stranger. James, a self employed artist, does free poems for people who are open to, well... opening up. I was to which I told him about feeling lost on my path but my longing passion for film and photography. We talked a bit more and James to my surprised impressed me with a poem right on the spot that absolutely blew me away. He offered me some wisdom by saying that life will always throw you for a loop even if you think you have it all figured out. He told me to keep following my passions and see where they take me, but to not stay closed off to new opportunities. While I was near tears, he handed me my poem with a gentle smile and wished me a wonderful day. That is something I'll never forget.
