To customize the colors of the modal menu, look for the following options:

Modal Menu Font Color - the font color of all the text content in the modal menu minus the links

Modal Menu Background Color - the background color of the entire modal menu including the footer where the Close button is located

Follow Buttons Dropdown Background Color - the background color of the dropdown box or container for the social media follow buttons

Buttons and Tooltip Font Color - the font color of all the buttons and tooltips texts  

Accent color - refers to the color of the links and the background color of the buttons

To display the Avatar of your blog, toggle the Show Avatar feature to on. To upload an avatar to your blog, just click on the pencil icon to the right of the Avatar feature. The Avatar shape can either be square or circle. If you hover your mouse on the avatar, it will rotate or spin.

The Title of your blog will show up right below the avatar. To further customize this to your liking, refer to this post.

The Description of your blog will show up right below the Title.

Show description - turn this off if you don’t want to display your blog’s description.

To change the font family of the modal menu text content, look for these options:

If Use Tumblr Fonts is toggled on, then look for this:

If it’s turned off, then look for this:

Go to https://fonts.google.com/, copy the name of the font you want to use then paste it on the Body Font textbox.

To change the font size, refer to the following options:

Buttons Font Size - refers to the font size of the Close button, the Follow me button, the Tumblr likes button, the Tumblr follows button, and the Tumblr group blog members button.

The font sizes are in rems.

To style the contents of the modal menu, refer to the following options:

The Modal Menu Heading Style, Buttons Style, and Featured Tags Heading Style have the following options:

Bold

Normal - this is the default style, meaning the text is neither bold, italic, or underline

Italic

Underline

The Buttons Transform and the Featured Tags Heading Transform have the following options:

Uppercase - this means the text will show up in all caps like this: EXAMPLE TEXT

Lowercase - this means the text will show up in all small letters like this: example text

Normal - the text will show up exactly how you type it on the provided textbox. For example, if you type Example Text, then it will show up as Example Text

Show Social Icons - refers to the social media follow icons. Toggle the switch on or off to show or hide these icons.  

These icons will show up in a dropdown box or container when the “Follow me” button is clicked. This button will show up right after the description of your blog. If you hover your mouse over each of these social icons, you will see a tooltip with the text “Follow me on name of site”.

Scroll down near the bottom of the theme options page of your blog to find the textboxes that correspond to these icons. Then just add the links to your accounts on these sites. For example:

Show Featured Tags - toggle this on or off to show or hide the featured tags list.

You can add up to 5 featured tags. Also, since you can customize the text content and URLs of this list, you can choose to use this to link to other websites. For example, you can choose to share links to your favorite articles and blogs or your most popular posts.

To customize the content of this list, look for the Featured Tags Heading, Tag 1 Heading - Tag 5 Heading, Tag 1 Description - Tag 5 Description, and Tag 1 URL - Tag 5 URL options and type the appropriate information. Here are some examples:

Show Tumblr Likes and Show Tumblr Follows - these features are only available on main Tumblr blogs, and only if you have the following settings turned on:

Show Blog Group Members - refers to this:

The avatars of the members of your blog will be listed here. Their avatars will contain a link to their Tumblr blog. If you hover your mouse over each of the avatars, you will see a tooltip with the blog member’s username as well as the title of their blog.

The likes, follows, and blog members will be displayed like this:

If you hover your mouse over the heart button, you will see the tooltip with the text “Stuff I like”. The one for the user plus icon says “People I follow”. The one for the group of users icon says “Group members”. Just click on these buttons to view the stuff you like, the people you’re following, and the members of your blog.

Highlighted Posts - if you choose to show this, images from your latest Photo, Photoset, and Panorama posts will be displayed in the modal menu. These images will contain links to the post where they came from.

On Arica, the Highlighted Posts feature will be displayed in slider format. It’s similar to the Header Slider, but only 6 images (the number is decided by Tumblr) will be shown by this feature.

Also, even if you choose to show this, it will not appear on your blog unless you have at least 6 Photo, Photoset, or Panorama posts (this is decided by Tumblr; the feature will automatically show up (if you turn or toggle it on) as long as the requirement of 6 pics have been met).  

Each of the photos will have a camera icon located in the middle of said pic. If you click this icon, you’ll be taken to the permalink page of the Photo, Photoset, or Panorama post that corresponds with the highlighted post image.

The slider comes with navigation icons (left and right arrow carets). While you can use these navigation icons to look through the slider, you can also use your mouse, or, if you’re on mobile or on a touchscreen device, your fingers, to navigate between the slides.   

Highlighted Posts Text - refers to the heading for the Highlighted Posts feature.

The Modal Menu Widget shows up right after the “Follow me” button.

Leave the textbox blank if you don’t want to add this widget to your blog.

Make sure you have the Show Modal Menu feature turned on (the switch will be colored blue). If you don’t want to display this, just toggle the Show Modal Menu feature off (the switch will be colored grey).

Description - this shows up right after your blog’s avatar.

Show description - turn this off if you don’t want to display your blog’s description.

To display the Avatar of your blog, toggle the Show Avatar feature to on. To upload an avatar to your blog, just click on the pencil icon to the right of the Avatar feature. The Avatar shape can either be square or circle.

If you want to add a background image to the modal menu, toggle the Show Modal Menu Background Pic to on.

To upload a background image, click on the pencil icon to the right of the Modal Menu Background Pic feature then click the “Choose a photo” option. Choose “Remove” if you want to remove the background image.

Modal Content Background Color - refers to the background color of the content boxes inside the modal menu. For example:

Modal Headings - this refers to the style of the headings in the modal menu. Examples include the “Featured Tags” heading and the “Follow me” heading as shown in the above pic. The options for this feature are: Bold, Normal, Italic, and Underline.

Highlighted Posts - if you choose to show this, images from your latest Photo, Photoset, and Panorama posts will be displayed in the modal menu. These images will contain links to the post where they came from. Check out the pic below for an example on what this looks like.

Note that if you don’t need or want a tags list, you can use the Tag List and Tag List URL as a 6th featured tag.

Subscribe Link - refers to the link to the Google Feedburner feed that’s associated with your blog.
