she wasn't nervous about leaving them there, yet she couldn't help feel like that as she drove out of the campground. a small sigh escaping her lips, she turned her stereo on just to listen to some music. it wasn't more than fifteen minutes later that she heard her phone go off. she knew she wasn't expecting anyone to call her. unless it had been her siblings texting her for something. grabbing her phone from her purse, she looked down at it.

she looked down at the text, coming from someone she didn't even know. but going for a walk in the field.  that seemed random. very random. she very rarely did that. if she went on any walk, it was usually through reigh park. pulling her car over at the first open field she saw, she put her car in park before getting out. the text running through her mind as she stood there. taking a deep breath, she looked around. at first seeing no one in sight. though it wasn't until she spotted a body in the field she was parked next too. reaching into her car, she grabbed her phone before running over to where the body was.

seeing it was sofia, she called the police immediately. "just hurry up and get here, please." she begged after telling them where she had found her. hanging up, she dropped her phone on the ground before bringing her in her arms, holding her up. "sofia, you need to wake up, please."  she didn't even know sofia that well, yet despite that, she could feel the tears forming in her eyes. who ever did this to her was sick in the head. and a psychotic bastard too. "come on sof, open your eyes."  hearing sirens in the distance,  a sigh of relief washed over her, though not completely.

watching as the paramedics rushed over and take sofia from her, she grabbed her phone before standing up. her body shaking slightly as she followed them. she wanted to call someone about this but who could she call? lost in her own train of thoughts, it wasn't until the the voice of one the the officers pulled her out.  still shaken up about this, all she wanted to do now was to go home.

after receiving that text from the shadow and adriana not allowing anyone to see max, emmeline's nervous energy couldn't escape. the banging on her door made the woman jump out of her skin and drop the tea she'd just made herself on the floor. eyes flickered to see the mug shattered before she was brought back to the banging. "police! open the door." that could have been anyone saying that. was the shadow posing as an officer, were they the shadow? had charlie or dylan actually filed a harassment charge against her? she didn't know. tears falling with her hand over her mouth, the woman must have zoned out for a moment before her front door was bashed in and they entered.

a whimper gave he away. "emmeline astor-roberts, i am arresting you...' heartbeat already in her ears, the woman shook her head and backed away. "no, no, no. i didn't do it." standing up, she backed away from them. there was such a panic in her that her worst nightmare was coming true - she was going to go down for something she didn't do, to be named miyeon's killer. no. that couldn't happen. "i'd never hurt her, you have to believe me. someone's setting me up, they're all setting me up and you're believing them. how can i believe you're really police? what if you're the shadow?" the person kept on stating the legal standard stuff that she needed to know but she wasn't listening, just as they would ignore her comments about 'the shadow'. how could she listen when she felt like everything was crumbling? like she was dying and no one cared. she was either going to be killed by the shadow posing as an officer or going to rot in jail - she wouldn't be able to survive either.

although emmeline had proven to have a lot of pent up anger, the woman wasn't a violent person. her mouth got her into trouble and that was about it but as soon as an officer laid a hand on her, she retaliated. "don't touch me!" this alone was traumatic enough to trigger her memories of her abusive relationship, the one that she finally managed to get out of before coming to hidehill - it was just one bad relationship out of the next. she didn't want to just give herself up and this felt like a violation on so many levels. an uncontrollable shriek left her as she felt someone forcefully grab her forearms to try and restrain her. "get off me!" the more she struggled, the more it would hurt.

she didn't like the unwanted contact but after hearing the words 'resisting arrest' over her own sobs, she felt like she just had to give up. "i didn't do it, please BELIEVE ME!" people were against her, they had made that clear but this was too far. her life was now ruined. an arrest would come up on a background check, if she was ever released, it would dictate what type of people she could work for, severely limiting her clientele...

handcuffs were being put on her and she couldn't breathe. no one had loved her, her career was no more, she was going to die in prison; it was too much for a regular person to take. she wasn't even able to adjust her clothing to make it feel looser around her neck. the woman was having a panic attack and wasn't in a supporting environment to work through it or even have someone, anyone, tell her that she was okay and was going to be okay. she wasn't going to be okay. all she could do was sob to try and let the energy go somewhere.

they would label it as a fake attempt to try stop them when it wasn't an option but she was severely distressed. "i can't breathe-" everything felt horrendous and her life had truly been ruined, all because she'd been infatuated with miyeon. she just wanted her back and now she was being accused of her murder... there were jae and marcus but the fact she was accused of miyeon's, suspected of miyeon's was the worst. and to think that max might think she was the one that tried to hurt him? it was too much. her breathing was quick but stabilising and it had distracted her for the entire journey until they reached the station...

emmeline couldn't feel anything as she approached the station

“She’s my girlfriend.” He looked down at his lap then back up to the cop questioning him. “You guys already know this.” Feeling frustrated with having to repeat himself multiple times to multiple different cops. “She was taken from my house when I went to go see if Sasha was home yet.” His voice got quieter, “I thought she’d be safe there.”

“Where were you the morning of Sofia’s disappearance?”

"I was at Late Night Slice.” Jordan thought for a moment, trying to remember exactly what he had been doing that morning. “I had some paperwork to fill out for inventory.” He ran his hand over his face for a second, not wanting to recall the rest of the events that happened after that.

“Do you know of anyone who would do this to Heather Jones?”,

Jordan shook his head, not able to think of anyone that could really have it out for Heather. Getting up from the chair, he was ready to get out of there as fast as possible. He was getting tired of being questioned by the cops when it always led nowhere. Just as he was about to exit the room, he stopped in the doorway. Looking over his shoulder towards the cop, he hesitated for a moment then began to speak. “You should look into Kat Vega. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was involved with all this shit.”

A swim? That wasn’t ominous at all but it was a clue and in this moment she could take action and do more than the police were doing. She immediately began thinking of all the places to swim in town. Fig beach or the Royal pools. The latter made more sense as everyone was combing fib beach. She knew she couldn’t sit around waiting on the police. No, she had to take action herself even if it might be reckless and dangerous. Huh, maybe some of Danny’s impulsiveness had rubbed off on her over the years.

She didn’t think twice before she grabbed her keys, slipped her tennis shoes, and grabbed a knife from the kitchen before running out of her apartment and speeding off in her car the moment she started it and put it into drive. Millie didn’t obey any rules of the road as she wanted to get to the pool in record time. She didn’t even turn her car off when she arrived but she grabbed the knife before she hopped out and ran to the pool. “Heather?” She practically screamed as she approved the fence and threw the knife over before she began climbing the fence to get into the pool area. Her adrenaline was running as she landed on the other side and picked up the knife and began looking around. “Heather?” She screamed again, her brown eyes darting everywhere in case the shadow was still there.

She went up to the pool when there was no response and that’s when she saw the blonde hair like a halo floating in the water. “Oh my god, Heather. I’m coming.” She said as she kicked her shoes off and placed her phone off to the side a safe distance before she dived in while holding the knife. Millie didn’t waste much time examining things until she was in the water and that’s when she saw the weight holding Heather underwater and the ropes tying the girl’s hands. She used the knife to free Heather from the weight and undo her hands too so she could wrap the girl’s arm around her and hold her as she swam to the surface with her other hand still holding the knife.

Though Valeria made a clear stance on a focus around the victims and their loved ones in the forum, she still wanted it to be known by the detectives, the people who actually matter, where she stood on this case. She stepped into the room with a deep sigh, her belongings placed on the chair beside her as she settle down.

“What was your relationship to Sasha Kang?”

“To be very honest with you, detective, I didn’t know much about her. I know she’s a local and that she’s a professional cheerleader... but other than that, I haven’t a clue what she’s like..” her demeanor uneasy as she wondered what questions would be asked next. It was upsetting. Knowing the predicament that the young woman was found it, but was Javier capable of that? Would he have done such a thing.

“Where were you the morning of Sofia’s disappearance?”

“I was preparing to head to the school. I always get up early to make sure I have breakfast and do my makeup before going in. Teens can be cruel if you look like Hell..” and boy wasn’t that the truth? “Ronnie Nilsson and my mother were home, but they were sleeping..” her voice shaking as she nearly cracked under the pressure of her own anxiety. Javier? No. Not her sweet brother. Not the brother who taught her how to ride a bike. 

Whatever the case, her stance would never change. Speaking carelessly in front of the victims’ loved ones was vile behavior that she didn’t approve of. Even if she knew in her heard that her brother was innocent.

“Do you know why Javier Sanchez would want to hurt Sasha Kang?”

“To be frank, officer. I don’t think he did it... he... he couldn’t..” finally, the tears she’d been fighting finally lined her eyes, a deep breath following as she gripped onto the scarf in her hand. It was a gift from her brother. “I think you need to figure out who did this... but my brother... he... he knew Sasha. He’d fixed her car... I’d seen her at Quick Fix. He didn’t harbor any hate toward her... and he definitely wouldn’t try and take her life.”
