10 Questions with Majesty
Up this week DJ/Producer Majesty. Currently an ambassador for the sudden resurgence of House/Techno producers coming from Capital of England. Majesty, having grown up in the era of Acid/Drum and Bass & UKG embraced that as a kid, this is what makes his production so unique as these influences emerge in his deep dubby sound of House/Techno that is created once he is in the studio.
Getting his start back in the glory days of Grime (working with the likes of Wiley and Dizzee Rascal) Majesty has since gone on to achieve great things in clubland, where his party has graduated from semi-specialist to mainstream roadblock, in less than 16 months.
Majesty is known for his collaboration with Vanz in which they combined their backgrounds and influences to produce clean and deep house music. His first solo release was an EP on Kerri Chandler’s Madtech Records. The EP featured a cool deep but dubby sounding track called “I Can Tell” which was a summer favourite. In the mean time Majesty has released 6 more EPs and a few remix’s for other artists. An arsenal of dance floor weapons over several different labels including the ravers favourites “They Want You”, “Thought Process” and his remix of 80s hit “Cruel Summer”.
When he’s not promoting though, Majesty is playing out to dancefloors across the UK that totally trust his selecting skills. Arguably one of the top three selected DJs, skills-wise, he plays a wicked mix of the nu-disco sound alongside his own sleazy, dark productions. His bass-heavy rolling grooves have seen him play at Ministry Of Sound, XOYO and Electric Brixton and overseas in Croatia and Ibiza.
Apart from DJ’ing majesty also is the co owner of 2 of the biggest house brands in the UK - Audiowhore and Siesta. When it comes to events - they ‘re at the top. The brainchild of DJ Majesty and Steven Cee, AudioWhore attracts the cream of the crop in London underground talent, as well as big names from overseas—not to mention ravers in their thousands.
2015 looks a very busy one for Majesty with several releases lined up, festivals and events booked, one being taking AudioWhore to Sankeys, Ibiza!

1. So how did it all begin? Where did your name come?
It came from a track I liked by Mase called ‘Majesty’ that I liked way back in 2004
2. What other Producers/DJs have influenced you?
I’d probably say my main influences are Jamie Jones and Konrad Black

At the moment I switch between the laptop at home and the studio.
6. What’s your current live/DJ set-up and why have you chosen this?

More 10 Questions lined up with the UK’s top House Producer/DJs next week!
10 Questions with Lee Edwards
In 2006, a young guy found inspiration from his ventures around town as a raver, listening to quality music only found at such places like EGG, 1001, SecretSundaze, Sosho etc. It didn’t take long before this young guy started collecting the songs he was dancing to in these nightclubs. After being approached by a promoter to perform regular 3 hour sets, totally unrestricted, B3 had the chance to play whatever he feels like and experiment with sounds still found as if not even more popular today.
Ultimately this has led to B3 being known for his distinctive selection of music. He’s known to play the darkest, yet most groovy songs, a sound that B3 has now developed through his own music productions, also involved in a few projects alongside Storm Productions Mark Radford & Lance Morgan.
Along with the Lance Morgan and Arun Verone (plus the mastermind behind it all, promoter Jason Dudley), Lee ‘B3’ Edwards plays an important role in the hydra beast that is House Entertainment. Unlike his DJing accomplices though, B3 has been part of the deep tech/minimal landscape for the better part of five years, with an overall house background spanning a decade. Lee had heavy involvement in the Weird Science events, and featured on the majority of events within the infrastructure, including the most popular UK Zoo Party.
2013 started in positive fashion for Lee with the news of a single release on the world wide Defected Records. The track being released is a co-production alongside Storm Productions called ‘Take Me Away’ featuring Anton Romero Co written by Donae’O (Available to buy now)
2014 Lee and Storm Productions started Eastside Productions. Bringing us the likes of Archie B,Creative Mind, A2H, C.B Productions and loads more, plus a few of his own and Storm Productions releases. So much talent! So many ‘bangers’! Djing took him all over the UK, at pretty much every big event from Audiowhore to ZooParty and as far as Amsterdam and Ibiza. With lots already planned for 2015, releases and events, we’re sure it will be another busy one!!

Being firmly established as a regular feature up and down the country performing across all major cities having regularly supported the likes of Kerri Chandler, MK, Youseff, Steve Lawler, Clive Henry to name but a few. His displays in the DJ booth have led him to becoming one of the most in demand DJ’s currently working in the UK.

1. So how did it all begin?
My experience as a DJ spans over 15 years, having first been a Garage DJ playing throughout France and Poland aged 15. I took the route many did being a DJ coming from London, following trends from garage, breaks and into more soulful classic deep house. I took a break during my early 20s to re-emerge 4 years ago and fall nicely into the current and thriving UK music scene. I play a mixture of drum and groove inspired rolling tech house to dark bassy ‘deep’ house.
2. What other Producers/DJs have influenced you?
I’ve take inspiration from many, however someone who sticks out for me as a personality who has influenced me would have to be Seth Troxler, a true individual who knows little boundry. My most recent influences production wise would include Art Department, Maceo Plex and German Brigante. Three fairly different styles that have grabbed me and made me think!
3. Did the Djing or Production come 1st?
I was DJing from a very early age and secured my own weekly radio show, aged 14. Every Tuesday 6-8pm before the Deekline show on Raw FM. I taught myself the basics of production using fruity loops a while back but only got into it properly around 2 years ago.
4. Where did you learn your skills from. Self-taught or education route?
Everything I know is self taught or absorbed from those around me. I’ve never been one to stick my head in the books, so to speak, I enjoy playing about and learning as I go.
5. What is your current studio set-up?
At current I’m using my Macbook Pro, Logic 9, Maschine and a whole host of softsynths, my current favourite being NI Massive.
6. What’s your current live/DJ set-up and why have you chosen this?
I’m thoroughly enjoying mixing with multiple CDJs at the moment, 3-4 when I can. I kinda go through stages, using Traktor a couple years backs for it’s looping and effects capabilities, however the new CDJs have a pretty decent looping function so I’ve moved away from Traktor.
7. Who is your favourite Producer right now?
Right now I’m enjoying Mirco Caruso and Volkoder, however over the past 12 months or so I’d say German Brigante was my producer of choice!
8. Out of all the tunes you own, which track “never fails”?
Mirco Caruso “Who You With” (Original Mix) is an absolute weapon of a track and never fails to inject life into a flat dancefloor!
9. What’s the best event you’ve played at?
A very hard question to answer for many reasons. I’d say it would have to be either WMC Miami 2014 or Bristol Carnival 2014.
10. What projects are you currently working on and what can we expect from you in 2015?
After my first release of the year reaching number one in the overall main chart on Trackitdown, a remix of Jake Travis’ Swiss chart hit “Do What I Gotta Do” a joint effort from myself a Riaz Dhanani, my next release will be a remix of Hot Creations Duo ‘Eskuche & Nu Sky’s’ Speeches which will be released as a 3 track EP with a remix from my good friend and colleague Riaz Dhanani whom I’ll be working very closely throughout the year on many projects.
