Hip hop of the day for 11 July 2025 is Hell Hath No Fury by Clipse!
These guys dropped today! It was good! But I wanna highlight my favourite release I've heard from them, and what is heralded as their classic.
Clipse is a rap duo consisting of Pusha T and his brother Malice (also referred to as No Malice starting 2012). This album was entirely produced by The Neptunes, a production duo consisting of Pharrell Williams (you know this guy lol) and his friend Chad Hugo.
When I say Clipse and The Neptunes pushed each other here, I mean they pushed each other. To their fucking limits.
They were in the studio basically playing musical chicken, just rapping weirder as they made weirder beats trying to push each other front and back and all around.
The last 3 songs made were Mama I'm So Sorry, Trill, and Chinese New Year, so those 3 tracks were the logical conclusions to them just pushing each other.
Pusha T and Malice handled the insane beats with ease where most other rappers wouldn't know where to start. It's a trip of an album it's just so weird but it also just works, it's a totally functional coke rap album. Crazy amazing bars over crazy amazing beats this is good hiphop man.

This is just what I'm listening to right now lol. It's obviously insanely iconic and it changed the world and it's 100% one of the most important songs of the past decade but what I wanna say about it is, I'm realising now it's interesting:
The fascinating thing about this beat is that most of it (most of it) isnt actually all that Catchy. It just provides the perfect platform for Carti to create his catchiness. Pi'erre Bourne is absolutely one of my fav producers ever and this isn't even close to his best showing for me he just has soooo much goated shit love him lol

Damn, chopped & screwed music is so cool. Nothing else feels quite like it does. It's a totally irreplicable experience.
The first time I put this record on I was in an emotional funk.
By track five, I'd forgotten about all what plagued my mind before. I was in a new mindstate. My feet were still on solid ground, but I was wet.
By track nine, I was totally submerged.
At 13 tracks total and 73 minutes, this album is. Nah man, I'm not a real music writer. I don't have the words to describe what this mix does to you. It puts you into totally different state of mind. It's a journey. I can't recommend it enough
