Hip hop of the day for 12 July 2025 is Magnolia by Playboi Carti.
This is just what I'm listening to right now lol. It's obviously insanely iconic and it changed the world and it's 100% one of the most important songs of the past decade but what I wanna say about it is, I'm realising now it's interesting:
The fascinating thing about this beat is that most of it (most of it) isnt actually all that Catchy. It just provides the perfect platform for Carti to create his catchiness. Pi'erre Bourne is absolutely one of my fav producers ever and this isn't even close to his best showing for me he just has soooo much goated shit love him lol
