27 and 35!
What’s the most physical pain you’ve ever felt? and What are you most proud of?
The most physical pain was: in college I had a cyst on my spine that in itself was pretty painful. I ended up getting a really bad infection, running a fever (I *NEVER* get fevers so this was B-A-D), and needing an emergent I&D 4 days before spring break, had to be intubated during the procedure, SUCKED. After the surgery I felt okay... like shitty from anesthesia and I don’t do pain meds well but not too much pain... and then my visiting nurse came to change the packing in the wound for the first time. HOLY BALLS. It felt like someone was cutting into my spine. I’ve broken bones, torn my MCL and meniscus a few times, etc but this? Lord. Never again (hopefully).
Most proud of.. hm. I’m weirdly good with money even though no one ever really explained how to handle money to me. My first year as a nurse I was fortunate enough to live at home and I worked A TON, so I made bank. I was able to put myself through grad school at age 25 without taking out loans, bought a house by 26, and got a promotion by 27. I come from a not-so-great hometown with a single father who had no college degree. Smart as hell, but no degree. I’ve never said it out loud and I didn’t realize it as it was happening but, in retrospect.... my 20s were pretty badass. I’m most proud of my 20s comeup.
