Ghost Nappa!

Here is why Vegeta is one of my favorite characters of all time: He had everything taken away from him at a very young age, and he didn't give up. He was forced to cowtow to someone he hated because that person had power over him, and he didn't give up. He worked his ass off, always taking two steps forward and one step back (and sometimes one step forward and six steps back), and he didn't give up. Even when he realized that Freeza was almost CERTAINLY going to kill him and they made a vibrating statue of him, he didn't just surrender. He believed at that point he'd never become a super sand lesbian but he kept going anyway. He kept getting knocked back again, and again, and again, but refused to stop trying. Little bits of progress, discovering or being taught new techniques, trying things that sometimes worked and sometimes didn't. (and he's not like, a pillar of goodness or justice or anything like that-- he can be petty and cruel and greedy and reckless. he acts shittily to people he cares about and has to try to make up for it later. but he does learn from his mistakes, most of the time.) There were so many times when it would have been easier for him to give up. But he kept going, not just because he thought his goals were worth it, but because he believed he was worth it, and he'd never disrespect himself by believing he wasn't.
