Iāve always HCād that Representatives would experience an uncomfortable sort of ache in their stomachs whenever theyāre away from their land. Itās nothing too serious, so itās easy to ignore, but they canāt really block it out entirely. Itās there as a reminder, as a pulling sensation, back to where they should be, where they Represent.
Despite all of its āgrand designsā there are a fair few flaws in the body of a Representative. The fact that their bodies donāt really letĀ Reps to be āfree-roamingā outside of their territory is one of those flaws.
Whenever a Representative leaves their land to attend a world meeting or a conference, they will sometimes find themselves rather rudely accosted by a set of painful cramps and a tense, straining sensation in the stomach and chest. So what is it? Was it something they ate? Did they pull a muscle? Whatās going on here?
This āpullā can be simply described as a warning, and it is there to let the Rep know that they are away from their land, and that they ought to return to their land promptly before something happens. The very purpose of a Representativeās existence is to act as a stabiliser to their respective territories, and without them, the land is in danger of literally falling apart, therefore the pulling is there to alert them to that danger. After all, damage to the land has a physical impact on the Rep themselves. Of course, while the Rep is still alive, the land will not succumb and collapse, but the pull is essentially a failsafe to remind the Rep that it may still be a possibility because of their absence.
Unfortunately, this little warning results in a lot of discomfort on the Representativeās part, this may sound a little strange, but Iāve always imagined these pulling pains to be similar to menstrual pains, in the way that they can be incredibly painful or just a dull ache, there often isnāt an in between. Sometimes a Rep can go years without the pain becoming a real hinderance, only for it to then hit them suddenly out of the blue and make their abroad trip a living Hell.
Itās an unpleasant thing to go through, and the majority of Representatives wonāt even be able to take medication in order to combat the pain that they are feeling either, since I think their immune systems are just too different to humansā to take any man-made pain meds. Some Reps may be fortunate enough to have the ability to stomach and benefit from man-made remedies, but this is a very rare occurrence, and only ever happens to younger Reps. (Starting with ones born in the late 20th century, I reckon.) Besides, thereās only so much relief that medication can provide at the end of the day, unless they take tylenol and fuckin tranquillise themselves, but I imagine that probably wouldnāt be the best idea if theyāre in an important meeting and are expected to speak. Ā Ā
In addition, because of the sheer amount of land they have, Nation Reps are actually much more susceptible to these pulling pains than City Reps are. The sensation will often hurt more as well, as they are separated from a large combination of of different Cities, Towns, etc. that make up their territory. (All I can say is R.I.P, Ivan.)
Cities, Towns, Villages etc. on the other hand, would only have to put up with the pain of their land, and their land alone, itās still a bummer but it definitely wouldnāt be akin to the pains suffered by the unfortunate Nations.
Therefore, if you were ever to attend a world meeting or conference, the sad picture of a number of Reps hunched in their seats with heat packs pressed firmly to their stomachs would not be an uncommon thing to see. They have to make do, however, these meetings are often important, and so are they.
Though this pulling business can be seen as an unfortunate and inconvenient flaw in these otherwise brilliantly designed beings, it makes more sense when you consider the fact that these beings were created purely to stabilise the Earth itself. The fact that Reps experience pain when they leave their land is no doubt a deliberate reaction put in place by some benevolent God to remind their creations to stay put if they know whatās good for them. Itās kind of like a commandment in its own way, really screwed up one, one that - ideally - will eventually herd the sheep back to where they belong for the Good Of the Planet.
Unfortunately however, due to their place in the human world - particularly within their government - this isnāt an option for many Reps, particularly those with a Nation status, which is something their creator evidently didnāt foresee happening.
