It is of importance to think of how in Biblical times the Israelites would often memorialize significant events, whether good or bad. Around this time one year ago, our family began walking through a time of personal tragedy. The Lord has led us in the past few weeks, to reflect on His restoration over this past year. I can't begin to share everything - except that God amazes me how He truly outdoes every imagination I have in the fulfillment of what He promises in His Word. He really is SO GOOD! Very few have known or understood what took place. We have tried to walk on in strength and dignity. Yet there have been many times, we wondered if all was lost. I cannot recount to you in words the depths of the sorrow we walked through - each of us, Jimmy, myself, Wesley, Erin and even little Angelina. It is a story only heaven can tell adequately and so I dare not offer an attempt. Psalms 23 has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember, but this part of verse 3, "He restores my soul" became a near constant thought during the first few days of our journey this past year. There were days I clung to this verse and reminded the heavens of it. Our family held on to the Lord like you imagine clinging to the Old Rugged Cross. The enemy planned to take us out of the fight. We knew the Lord was not finished with us. Yet, we saw, in our minds, the destruction that could've become of our family and prayed, struggled daily against it. The enemy used people whose words wounded like a javelin thrown through our beings. BUT, Oh, the marvelous love of Jesus Christ is so much greater than anything man can do. His Word over us is the truth and it endures. He heals our wounds to the very depths. He restores our souls! He sets our feet on solid ground and leads us in paths of righteousness! He gives us beauty for ashes! 💗 If you are coming through something, keep pressing into the Lord. Keep reading your Bible. Keep praying - even those, "Jesus, Help" prayers...He hears those!
