What are the possible complications of hemorrhoid surgery?
Haemorrhoids are swollen blood vessels in the lower rectum. They are one of the most common causes of anal disease, and as a result, patients and medical experts alike blame them for almost any anorectal symptom. Because the term “hemorrhoid” has been used to refer to both normal and diseased anatomic structures, there is often confusion.
Hemorrhoid Surgery:
Hemorrhoid surgery is a procedure that is well tolerated. Minor surgical problems are prevalent, while serious postoperative complications are unusual. To avoid considerable patient morbidity, it is critical to identify postoperative problems as soon as possible. Bleeding, infection, and urine retention are the most common acute consequences. Pelvic sepsis is a rare condition that can cause significant morbidity and even death. Fecal incontinence, anal stenosis, and chronic pelvic pain are the most common long-term consequences.
Types of Hemorrhoid Surgery:
The time it takes to recover after hemorrhoid surgery is determined by the procedure. The following are a few Hemorrhoid Surgery:

Hemorrhoidectomy
Yesterday afternoon I had outpatient surgery to have multiple painful hemorrhoids removed. Several of which I have had since my pre-teen years (that's another story).
I went into surgery at 1:00 PM and was home by 4:00 PM. I'm told that even though things did not go exactly as expected, everything did go well.
When the doctor went for the final, and largest internal hemorrhoid, he noticed that there was a large cyst (golfball size) that had not been noticed before, and that had not shown up on my recent colonoscopy.
Fortunately, for me, an oncology surgeon was on hand and had just had a procedure cancellation in her schedule, so she was able to join and assist my doctor. The oncologist was in fact the same doctor that performed a procedure on my mother-in-law just a few months ago.
They were able to successfully remove the cyst, and they sent it to the lab for testing.
Unfortunately...
As the evening progressed, my bladder never kicked back into action, and my pain levels and temperature just kept rising.
By Midnight, I started to realize that I was in real trouble, and that taking pain meds to deal with the increasing bladder pain was not going to help.
At 1:30 AM, I woke my son (who has a learner's permit to drive) and asked him to take me to the Emergency room. There was another adult in the house, but I had already been told not to wake them, and if it got serious to wake the 16 year old instead. Fortunately for me, I had listened to the discharging nurse earlier in the day and had left my admitting wristband on my wrist.
The ER admitting desk was able to scan me back into the system and take me straight back, where they began the process to insert a catheter. After what seemed like forever and several gallons of fluid later, it was explained to me that I had been within minutes of my bladder bursting inside my body cavity.

What is a Hemorrhoidectomy Surgery? Why Is It Done?
Haemorrhoids, a condition that results in swollen veins in the anus and lower rectum causing itching, bleeding and pain, is quite prevalent throughout the population. Although most symptoms can be neutralised with minor lifestyle changes and over the counter medication, severe haemorrhoids can quickly escalate into something that impacts the patient’s quality of life. If nothing else seems to work and you have tried every other non invasive option then maybe it’s time to inquire about the hemorrhoidectomy surgery procedure with your doctor.
Simply put, hemorrhoidectomy surgery is a safe and effective treatment / procedure to remove haemorrhoids. Although surgery is not an initial method of treatment, when severity calls for one, a hemorrhoidectomy surgery is recommended because getting rid of such discomfort is far better than finding a way to live with it.
Procedure For Hemorrhoidectomy Surgery
Hemorrhoidectomy surgery is typically an outpatient procedure, but it may require an overnight stay in some cases. The patient is prohibited from eating or drinking 6 to 8 hours prior to the surgery. An IV is then given for medications to prevent infection, swelling, and bleeding. Either general or local anaesthesia with sedation is used to help the patient sleep through the procedure.
