ok ok time to introduce my least favorite boi to everyone who doesn’t know him ??? basically, his name USED to be noah ashbury so if you ever see me mentioning my noah from the old days... this is lit him, just younger and dumber ;~)

but uhhhhh.... here are the important things to note before reading: 

TW: suicide, anxiety, cancer, and death

ok so basically ?? noah is from malibu, california. he was born to the best parents ever who loved him unconditionally but by the time he was 12 he lost his dad in a car accident. ever since then he’s struggled with depression and anxiety tbh ?? oh yeah and to older hs ppl that knew him as an only child he uh... has a sister now :’)))

by the time he was 16 he tried to kill himself and was hospitalized for a bit after. it was a really close call and ever since then, he hasn’t had an attempt. he’s just been sad and tired of a lot of things

his mom ended up getting cancer which made him put off going to college. he went away for half a year before coming back and deciding that being away from his mom was just too stressful for the both of them so he just stayed at home and switched to a much closer school.

throughout his life he was always??? i surfer boy. he loves the beach and was raised in a nice beach house and will probs cry if u bring it up. he misses it a lot and he was such a good surfer that he was sponsored by people and had a big following on instagram based off his looks and skill. 

he his depression noah is... lit such a happy pup. he's learned to be really good at exuding confidence and happiness and keeping the sadness within himself. rlly, ever since his mom got cancer he’s felt the need to hide what he feels which is why he’s a scout. it gives him time to be alone and be himself

for the first few months of the outbreak, he chilled with his mom in malibu. they stayed at campsites and just...lived life. it was calming and happy but eventually, his mother passed and he had to move on. now he’s just in boulder looking for his older sister who went out to college here ??? not sure what i want to do w/ that yet but we’ll uh... see if i ever remember to put in a wc lmaooo

anyways he’s also daddy diy out here and in the words of annie and i: “we love a diy man” and he will make u pretty cards with pom poms and 3d pop ups to cheer u up

he plays the guitar !! he’s been playing it casually for a good 15 years, but started playing it more when he came back from rehab. the one he keeps with him is. old and torn up. but it’s still playable i promise. i’m coming up with a playlist of all of the songs he plays and it’ll be out in the next few days.

tobias has become such a dad. like, he’s got the jokes, he’s got the vibe. he’s actually here to make everyone happy and forget about the shit that happened way back when. not a bad bone is his body, really.

this is the most. irrelevant headcanon but i thought of it now it’s going here. his daughter likes to collect rocks, like, all the time. and tobias is like “hey can we. like. not.” and she collects the rocks in her cute my little pony backpack i’m in love.

his go-to joke is “what does a vegetarian zombie eat ??” “gRAAAIIIIIINNNNS”

i’m hoping to send some wcs to the main in the next week or so for his wife and the raider college friend he has. because ya boy is a fan of love triangles. he did some stuff with his partner on the road when he was dealing with the ‘loss’ of his wife. it’s really interesting. if anyone wants to talk about it before i send it in i’d be happy to send you my word vomit.

his weapon of choice is his a sawed-off shotgun. however, it’s not always convenient in situations where it’s better to stay quiet, and that’s where his bond bullpup comes in handy.

 born in los angeles, california she was one of a pair, her parents had been blessed with not only one but two precious children, preston and arabella now had been born into one of the wealthiest families in america which initially would be the dream of any kid but what no one knew was that it came with a lot of consequences. the twins grew up in a life of luxury, there would never be a lack of anything in the collins’ household but it all came with a price. the collins last name was a heavy weight to carry, from the start of her childhood arabella was taught she wasn’t like the rest of the kids at school, she had something that they didn’t, she had beauty, sophistication, power and a bank account that was fully loaded with a number you could not even imagine. obviously like most rich kids, preston and arabella barely ever saw their parents (and when they did it wasn’t pretty) their kids seemed to be there just for show just so that the media could pay more attention to the collins family and they did. the collins twins seemed to be everyone’s adoration, everyone’s except their own parents. 

growing up arabella became the center of attention everywhere she went,  and at school there was nothing she enjoyed more than making fun of all the little girls that surrounded her, even at a young age she would befriend them and act sweet until the moment where she was able to destroy them with one single word in front of everyone. some called it seeking attention from her parents ( and they were totally right) but for arabella it was all about showing who had the most power and to show that she was truly unbreakable. all throughout middle school and high school arabella had become the perfect girl, every single girl envied her, they wanted to be her friend, they wanted to be HER. what everyone didn’t know was hell she and her brother lived behind closed doors, all the screams had only gotten louder and louder, her father had become an aggressive drunk that took his anger out on his kids and there was nothing that would stop him. 

bad habits, arabella developed a lot of those, finding comfort in whatever she could find to forget the hell that she lived in but her parents didn’t allow it any further, sending her away for a few months to ‘fix’ her ( as if a few therapies would fix 16 years of damage). arabella went through with it, acting fine as if nothing had happened, everyone outside had been convinced she was away on some abroad trip and when arabella left the facility that’s exactly what she told people. she didn’t feel any better, on the contrary she just felt worse and things were only going to go downhill from there. her parents were dead, she’d been told it had been a planned murder but arabella knew that wasn’t true, she knew that they had done it themselves. she felt guilt, guilt for not shedding a single tear at their funeral, guilt for not taking any time to grieve because now it was her and preston’s responsibility to make sure the empire their parents built didn’t burn to the ground but they were just kids and kids didn’t have to have this much responsibility, right?

throughout the two years that followed, arabella learnt all the ropes to the multiple businesses her parents ran, it was hard work but on the side she decided to also make a name for herself, taking up multiple sponsorship campaigns and even starting a business of her own she was overworked, arabella finally understood what her mother meant by telling her that having the collins last name was a curse rather than a blessing. she tried to see preston as often as she could as they were both in this together but sometimes she was the one who pushed everyone away, too scared that they’d see her being weak or showing any signs of the wreck she had become behind close doors so she kept her distance thought it was safer that way. 

reports of the undead roaming the streets were everywhere, on all the news, on every single channel and it had all hit a bit too quickly. arabella was scared, confused and in panic, a girl like her wasn’t prepared for this but she did what she saw everyone else do, she packed a bag of the most priced possessions, probably more than she needed and took off. she had tried reaching her preston,  but all her attempts had failed which only made her to assume the worst so she set off on her own, she had no idea where to but eventually she settled in boulder, colorado. it wasn’t a place she was used to, it was new and arabella didn’t like it, this entire situation had caught her off guard and now more than ever she decided to ignore her feelings and thoughts, thoughts of if her brother was alright and if her life would ever be back to the way it was.   

right these keep getting longer im sorry but here are some fun facts abt this absolute piece of trash

her real middle name is alaska but her dad was like yikes no and told everyone it was america 

always dresses up in her designer clothes, always will wear something nice bc even tho theres an apocalypse arabella has to stay a fashion icon

she speaks fluent french bc of her mom and portugese bc of her nannies that basically raised her and preston 

shes a rouge and has a little house she was able to turn into her own tiny mansion with a lot of hard work and getting other people to do it for her 

probably carries around a tiny hand sanitizer

actually is smarter than she looks, shes been able to survive this far and i honestly have no idea how but i mean she isnt as dumb as people assume she is from looking at her

for those of you that were in pre-revamp hellstate, delilah might seem a bit familiar in personality. i Love recycling old characters into new ones, , ,i can’t let my Babes gO. so deli is a mixture of a few of my older characters ! but more specifically indiana stokely & evangeline czerny.

me @ me knowing damn well i’m Not going to make it short:

tw. alcoholism, drug use, child neglect/abuse, death.

born & raised in des moina, iowa, into a very dysfunctional family (  think. . the gallaghers. yikes !  )  her parents descending from augsburg, germany prior to them expanding their family ; they didn’t have much before let alone when they fled to america for a clean slate -- but they thrived, somehow the rosenberg’s seem to always do.  

delilah was the youngest of five children ! and being the baby of the family mean’t that she was shielded from the life her eldest siblings had built to survive on a day to day basis ; although not completely. their parents? were barely sober most days and sometimes the children didn’t see their mother or father for a few days to a few weeks at a time ; they didn’t support them, they didn’t care for them, some would even suggest they didn’t even love them ----- the family wasn’t exactly viewed in high regards around the city, they were considered untrustworthy & wild ; the thieves & manipulators of the cul de sac. the type you shut your door on unless you wanted a few pieces of your silverware missing by night’s end.

delilah always carried her heart on her sleeve, she had a gentle touch and a warm soul, one that could see the possibilities in anyone ; her parents saw the weakness and often exploited it to their benefit, and it took awhile ( and a lot of lectures from her siblings. ) to learn that there is more to being a parent than just having the title -- she grew used to the absence, to the way her family lived, how temporary things where ; she learnt to lie without fault & run faster than those she was running from. a survival streak that was formed at birth, and one, you could say, that has helped aid her in surviving the end of the world.

as delilah grew, so did her love for music --- at any opportunity she’d sing along to the music playing through the radio or twirl to the tunes. her oldest sister, clarissa, managed to snag an acoustic guitar for delilah’s tenth birthday, and every night following was filled with music for the whole neighborhood to listen to. when she was twelve, she was offered work at the local dance studio in return for lessons, to which delilah was thrilled over. ( not to be That Mom. but ! she was pretty darn talented in every musical aspect. ) 

her mom had grown envious over her daughter’s talents, and also the fact that delilah began viewing her dance instructor as more of a mother than her own mother. mama rosenberg didn’t appreciate ! and forced delilah to revoke her dream of pursuing her passion into something more ; she dropped out of school at 16 to find a job and help towards the bills and loans that were against the rosenberg name while fighting to keep them together ----- if it wasn’t neighbors calling on social services, it was the fact that the eldest children were becoming adults, eager to escape the life they had been raised in. none of them were exactly fond of their parents, but they loved each other, they stuck together, always. 

until they didn’t. in the end, it was just delilah and her brother left to keep the household afloat, to clean up the mess their parents made and to dodge the EVICTION NOTICES that kept appearing on the front door.  it was a struggle, and there was only so much they could do when their parents were constantly pulling them down and jeopordising their opportunities. but what COULD they do when their older siblings, the ones who protected them from their parents bad habits, addictions & neglect, were no longer around?  they were forced to endure, to put up with what their parents dished up to them on a daily basis, whether it was theft, manipulation or humiliation ; but they thrived, somehow the rosenberg’s seem to always do.  

when the apocalypse began, delilah was unemployed ; fired from two of her jobs due to her father abusing the boss at one and her mother making her daughter late to the other. she had finally lost the home she had been raised in, had lost her possessions, and the remainder of her family when her brother had gained a scholarship to university ----- she left the city of des moina behind when the infected took it, found her way into the welcoming arms of a small group that protected her from the dead ( not a big fan of those tbh -- my girl isn’t much of a fighter !  ) they eventually found their way into boulder county, where delilah discovered balfour senior living.

hasn’t killed a single walker thus far, doesn’t plan to tbh

kelly grew up in a super-average suburban family in colorado and she’s lived in-state all her life. she was always athletic and friendly, but pretty shy, and she found it difficult to make friends (other than her brother, whom she idolized) until she joined her town’s volunteer ems squad. it gave her a ton of confidence, some independence, and most importantly, a mentor. she never went to college and was a waitress and volunteer emt when the disease broke out.

things were fine in her hometown, until they weren’t, and kelly and her brother had to get out of town fast one day. they were headed east to balfour when her brother lost control of the car and they crashed. he was unconscious and kelly thought he was dead, so... she left him. she ran until she got to pearl street and luckily, they decided to take her in. she’s been offering her services as caregiver ever since.

tw: infertility, cancer.

dani was born danique amahle isaacs in capetown, south africa on the 7th of july, 1982. she has an older and a younger brother, both who still live in south africa with her parents. 

as a child she was very well-behaved, and never caused her family any trouble. she helped her mother wrangle her youngest brother for school, and assisted in doing the housework whilst her father worked long hours. the family was working class, not below the poverty line but not sitting comfortably above, either. 

she stood out in school due to her academic excellence, which led to her being seen as a bit of an outcast, even amongst the small group of her coloured peers. she found this very difficult, though her eldest brother made sure no one gave her too much grief. 

after graduating, dani was offered a scholarship to study (tertiary) abroad. she enrolled in an anthropology course at the university of denver, colorado, and moved there shortly after turning eighteen.

a few years into her studies she met nick emery, a mutual friend and her future husband. after a few months they began dating, and at the completion of her masters they eloped. he was, and still remains, the great love of her life.

nick worked as a social worker in denver, and wholeheartedly supported his wife in everything she did.

whilst working on her phd, dani and nick decided they wanted to start a family. it was to no success. dani had been diagnosed with severe endometriosis years earlier, and it had only increased in severity. she had so hoped to concieve, but instead followed her doctors advice and underwent a hysterectomy. following the procedure, her pain lessened, and her life as a chronic pain sufferer was changed dramatically.

the couple looked into adoption. nick had wanted to do so for a long time, and dani agreed it was just as special a way to have a child as natural conception. a month after completing her phd, dani and nick were selected by a birth mum interstate. they had a little boy on the way.

birth mama was in her six month of pregnancy when nick’s headaches turned something frightful. within a very short span of time, their nightmare came to life. nick had a tumour on the brain. the prognosis wasn’t good.

the adoption fell through. dani stopped her anthro lectures to stay with her husband and enjoy the last few weeks of their time together. his family gathered around them. dani’s mother flew to america for the first time to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

nick emery died on november 20th, 2016.

dani survived the intial stages of the outbreak by doing what she does best: staying quiet, hidden, and keeping her head. she hauled up in she and nick’s suburban home until she almost starved  — much like she had in the months after her husband died. then, she hopped in the car and made a run for it. she didn’t know where she was going, or even why she was keeping herself alive. it was instinct that told her to move, to find a place for herself outside of the cemetery that was denver.

the radio broadcast felt like a miracle. boulder. people were still alive out there, after all. it didn’t take long until she found a group of survivors, hauled up in a fancy ass mansion in lyons. 

they offered her a place.

she took it.

some more misc facts:

dani is fluent in afrikaans (first language) and english. she can also speak a little dutch.

she has a strong south-african accent. she was very self-conscious of it when she moved to the us, but no longer has issues with it.

dani is not shy, but she is very quiet. she can come across as quite intense, but really she’s very kind, thoughtful, and loyal. she can be very emotionally closed off, and is still grieving the loss of her husband alongside the loss of almost all she once knew.

she has dual south african and american citizenship.

dani was a lecturer at denver university. she has a doctorate in anthropology.
