Pictured: Two newspaper spreads on Alcina Dimitrescu, 13 years apart.
ALCINA DIMITRESCU - MODERN AU. Romanian heiress to a wine empire, formerly renowned jazz and opera singer (a.k.a. Miss D, of Miss D and the Pallboys fame), and arch-conservative CFO of a Megachurch. Alcina Dimitrescu is many things: mother to three teenaged daughters; wife to Gil Malcom Carnegie, movie producer; and murderer. There's a little tax-fraud and money-laundering tossed in there - modern women need hobbies, after all.

DIFFERENCES.
Not a 9ft tall dead-looking entity.
Not based in Romania / Castle Dimitrescu.
Never ended up killing Michael Dimitrescu, and so never ascended to the title of 'Lady' Dimitrescu.
Born in modern times - currently 48 years old.
Instead of running to Romania after killing her third husband, she instead received help in covering up the murder from Miranda.
All Miranda asked in return? For Alcina to administer the financial wing of her religious organisations in order to pay for treatments for an increasingly sick Eva. (credit to @yngai for this point.)
Gave birth to her daughters.
Remarried her first husband in order to shirk speculation around her sexuality and the worrying trend of her other husbands ending up dead.
Runs an ideological adaptable (read: purposefully vague) Church which doubles as a pyramid scheme of its members.
Owns large swathes of properties. Absolutely abominable landlady.
Closeted.
TRIGGER WARNINGS. Murder. Castration. Compulsory heterosexuality. Internalised homophobia. Lesbophobia. Abuse mention. Suicide mention. Conservative politics mention. *fwiw, please no one assume that I endorse conservative politics. I just don't think she's a moral enough character to be anything else.
Many of the above themes will not be roleplayed, but will be mentioned in interior thoughts. Please DM me if you would rather I not mention any of the above while in threads with you.
MODERN VERSE CHARACTERS.
Hattie Egan. A childhood friend who currently lives in California. Co-owns an American offshoot of her successful Romanian wine-brand. 47 years old, and is a ray of sunshine. @harrieteganGilbert Malcolm Carnegie. She married him young for his prestigious name. They stayed married for under three years, and separated when he got another woman pregnant. He is a movie financier who uses his position to leverage his terrible ideas into movie reality. They remarried after the death of Ugolino Sparato. This was a marriage of convenience for them both to shirk certain uncomfortable accusations. Upon remarriage, they conceive Daniela Dimitrescu (her youngest daughter.) Harry Whitman. Gay/ace coworker of Carnegie. He proposed a lavender marriage arrangement to Lina, who accepted. She pursued her career and several relationships with women. They agreed to conceive a child together. Shortly after this, in the midst of a financial crash in which he lost his life's savings, he was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Harry died by suicide. Father of Bela Dimitrescu (eldest.) Ugolino Sparato. Married Lina shortly after Harry's death. A generally abusive relationship. While mutual abuse was present, there is no doubt that it was worse from Ugolino. Upon discovering Lina with a lover, he beat the lover half to death. Alcina later castrated him, and framed his death as motivated by money. Framed a former bandmate for his death. Father of Cassandra Dimitrescu (second-born.) Lee. Butch lesbian who is like a 'husband' to Alcina, or 'Al'. She is a communist, nurse, and proudly out lesbian. They separate after Al's first child, and reunite while Al is married to Ugolino. Eventually, Lino finds out and beats Lee. In retaliation, Al castrates Lino, and blames a former Pallboy for it. When she tells Lee that the situation has been 'handled', Lee is horrified, and leaves her. Alcina has been heartbroken since, and not as active in looking for relationships, especially since after Lino's death, texts came out that implicated Alcina had an affair with a woman. This media speculation around her sexuality and murderousness 'hurt her brand'. Mother Miranda. A Romanian religious charlatan. Miranda was a spiritual advisor to Alcina, and quickly saw vulnerabilities within the woman. She helped Alcina formulate a plan to kill Lino, and held this information over Alcina's head thereafter. She has a sick daughter, and funnels money by the hundreds of thousands into keeping her barely alive.
TIMELINE.
0-12. Lina grows up in Romania with chronic illness, tutored in isolation due to her congenital sideroblastic anaemia and multiple infections thereafter. She is an incredibly lonely child. 14-19. Lina attends a Connecticut boarding school for elite young women, and meets Hattie there. She graduates with ambitions to become a singer. 19-22. Lina marries and divorces from Gil Carnegie. 22-29. At 23, Lina marries Harry. They chose a new surname together. At 30, they have Bela. This same year, Harry dies. 31-35. At 32, Lina marries Ugolino, mostly due to a toxic reaction to the stigma of Harry's death. They have Cassandra. At 35, Lina castrates and kills Ugolino. 35-37. An intense media speculation begins about Ugolino's death. The court of public opinion believes her guilty (tbf. true). There is speculation about her life, so she remarries Gil to shirk these. They have Daniela. The trial ends, and Alcina is dismissed as a suspect due to evidence planted on the Pallboy she framed. 38-48. Alcina works as a part of the Megachurch. She considers her job to be 'making money'. She provides a nice life for her daughters, and is miserably and lovelessly married to Gil. They despise one another, which impacts the daughters. Bela is eager to go to Romania for college, to study with Miranda. The idea terrifies Alcina, who doesn't mind anyone getting exploited by the cult - except for her children. (They can HAVE Gil.)
