Greetings HelloLisa!  Please tell us about this project!  Who and what and where and why and, whatever else you’d like to share.

At the very the beginning, it started with two guys who were not close friends, Bert & Julien. We we both played guitar, and we were loving the same bands. Naturally, we began to play, and started with Beatles covers, but also Kinks, Boo Radleys, Honeybus, everything made of strong melody. We started by playing in front of a pink chimney, with a lot of good bottles of wine.  Nathalie, who was with us, loved it, and started to sing along with us. Then Muzzle asked to play bass and even tho we did not have a drummer, a band was born...  

Is there any significance to the band name, HelloLisa?

No actually there isn’t. One day, there was too much wine, someone said “Lisa”, the other “Hey” and everyone found that HelloLisa sounded like us. And now it's like a comedy of repetition because everyone asks us frequently who the Hell is Lisa...

Your new album, Laughter, Drinks & Jiving Along, will be released in Mid-May.  What can you tell us about this album?

Even though we have recorded 3 EPs during the past ten years, this material is the most exciting stuff we have done together as a band. Because we have sung and played these songs for a long time together, we have special feelings for them. “ Laughter, Drinks & Jiving Along”, encompases all : friends, songs, dance, drinks, again and again, together. On stage, or in a bar.

Your first single, Lilo and John Wayne, was released the end of February.  It was my first introduction to the band.  I think the video really sealed the deal for me. Can you tell us about the single and the video?

It's was just obvious for everybody. All members, but also our friends who follow us, and come to our gigs with the same smile that we have, when we play. I think the video portrays just that. We love to play and our friend Jean-Luc Moly, the video's director, who really really and powerfully loves the song, has wonderfully captured what we are in life.  What HelloLisa is.

What are some of your musical influences, the artists that have helped shape the sound of the HelloLisa?

There are 7 of us, and so if each one of us began to enumerate which artists are the “special ones”, you'd better have a lifetime to write it down! What we have in common : the melody, the groove, the pleasure.

Now, I just want to leave some space for free thoughts.  Anything more you’d like to add for the readers?

Well... what else ? HelloLisa is a party. Close friends, different, but just happy to be, play, drink & dance together, as much as possible. Isn’t that amazing, that we can do that with music. Our songs, played with love by us and loved by more and more people. We are not doing that for glory or money, we are doing that for fun.
