the fight comes to an end and marcus is left buzzing from head to toe. the announcement of cat + mouse was unexpected, but he finds it's not all too surprising that kitty is the spark behind it. if he wasn't glued to nana's performance (because what is murder if not an art?) he'd have gone looking for her as soon as their entertainment was announced, but he's too busy betting and watching nana's every move. and of course she wins, not only because famine can't afford to lose her, but because nothing has stopped her yet. it’s a relief to finally feel some accomplishment in his crew other than aruthur’s ability to keep people alive. there's pride puffing up his chest as he weaves through the mass of party goers in search of kitty's purple zebra print ensemble. 

he catches her in the midst of a conversation, and as he grows nearer, he overhears talk of expenditures, statistics, all things that if you knew kitty, you’d know she couldn’t care less about. a hand finds her shoulder as he approaches from behind, smiling graciously. “i’ve been looking for you everywhere. can i borrow you?” he asks, bowing an inch to the other in polite dismissal, but ultimately not giving them the choice to continue their line of questioning. marcus steps to the side of the warehouse, out of the way of stumbling drunks who could knock him off balance, almost leaning against the wall until he thinks better of rubbing his expensive shirt against the factory walls. for now he relies on the support of his cane. “you're welcome,” he starts, shifting uncomfortably after so much time spent on his feet. “so, cat and mouse. how long has that been rattling around in there?” motioning to her brain. “i think you've fucking revolutionised us, like, shit, that's my new favourite thing ever,” a smirk appears, “don't tell ravi.”
