Yet another: unedited, only read once, half hour in the making fic!
This time inspired by this quote:
"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence" âHelen Keller
And this comic by @hellmandraws
Brownie Points to whoever gets the reference to another Disney XD show! (My second favorite 'sides Gravity Falls!)

It was peaceful, in their room. The two young men sat together on the bottom bunk of their beds and simply enjoyed each otherâs company.
The larger, yet younger brother was surprisingly reading. It was a magazine, but reading all the same. Out of his norm.
The smaller, yet elder brother was not surprisingly fiddling with some device. It was a strange machine, but a machine all the same. In his norm.
What was also, not out of the norm was how he muttered as he worked. Another common occurrence was the younger brotherâs rising annoyance at the aforementioned murmuring.
âAlright Sixer,â the younger sighed as he threw down his magazine. âWhat is it this time?â
Stanford Pines looked up owlishly from his musings. âWhat was that Stan?â
Stanley Pines rolled his eyes endearingly and repeated his query.
âOh, Iâm working on a perpetual motion machine for the science fair,â Stanford answered cheerily.
âA perpetty what now?â
âA perpetual motion machine Lee! It stays in motion without the input of energy and becomes an inexhaustible supply of energy!â Stanford was practically bouncing in his seat with excitement. âNo one has been able to construct a working one before! If I do this-â
âWait,â Stanley interrupted. âYouâre making something no one else has been able to before...for a high school science fair ?â
âYes! Iâll definitely get an A and perhaps the attention of-â
âYou do realize you could make a baking soda volcano and still get an A?â
Stanford scowled.
âOh, crap! Sorry Sixer, guess youâre still sore about last year eh?â
âI canât believe I lost to a baking soda volcano! My thesis on inators was-â
âA thesis, not an experiment,â Stanley reminded him. âFor being such a nerd youâre kinda dumb sometimes.â He smiled. âThe one time I got a better grade in Science than youâŚâ
âYeah, yeah.â His brother rolled his eyes. âIâm never going to live that down am I?â
âNope!â
There was a pleasant silence as the two recalled the details of the last yearâs fair.
âIâm serious though Stan. If I can get this to work...Imagine it! Iâd be the first person to construct a working perpetual motion machine! With that under my belt, I could get into any college I wish!â
âYeah youâd be...whoa wait,â Stanleyâs exuberance for the possible achievement fell. âWhatâs this about college?â
âI-I think it would be good Stanley...for me,â Stanford replied sheepishly. âI mean, I think it could be fun. I could maybe get a degree...a PhD?â
Stanley seemed shell shocked for a moment as he took this news in. Then he let out a bark of laughter. âWhy would you want to go to school anymore than you have to? âSides, you wonât need any nerdy degrees where weâre going!â
âTreasure hunting of course!â Stanleyâs smile was large but unsure. His voice dropped in volume. âRight?â
Recognition lit Stanfordâs eyes...before they grew sad. âStanley, we....you know...yeah, I guess youâre right Lee. But after the treasure hunting?â
âAfter all the treasure weâre going to get? Sure, we can take a pitstop and you can be all nerdy at college for awhile if you want. With all the gold weâre gonna get, I bet weâll be able to pay for it all too!â
âAlright.â And with that the pleasant silence fell again as each twin went back to their tasks.
Stanfordâs mind was not long bothered by the depressing prospects the end of their conversation brought to life. His being was filled with confidence. All he could think of was how he, Stanford Pines was going to change the world, for the better.
Inside his brotherâs head there wasnât a sign of the figures on the pages before him. All he could think of was âcollege.â â it would be good Stanley...for meâ âStanley, we....you know...yeah, I guess youâre right Lee. But afterâŚâ
But he still smiled and turned a page, though the previous went unregistered. They were still going sailing. Still going to find treasure. Still going to be together. Stanford and Stanley Pines, changing the world and being great! And if there was any doubt, there was hope. And if anyone was ever hopeful in New Jersey, it was Stanley Pines.
Got the reference? Did I really do that? Yes, yes I did. XD
Sorry for the poor quality. Like I said, unedited and 30min. I'm too lazy and tired to work on it more.
My commission from the wonderful @hellmandraws, whose wonderful artwork can be seen here. They were very kind to do a portrait of the Eighth Doctor and Scarlette from the BBC novel The Adventuress of Henrietta Street (one of my favorites!)
With Gallifrey erased from history following the end of the War in Heaven, the Doctor and his companions Fitz and Anji set up operations in eighteenth century England, defending reality from the nightmarish forces long kept dormant by Time Lord rule. During the year of the novel, the Doctor begins to die, his second heart rotting in his chest with his link to Homeworld severed. In order to stay alive, he must undergo a ritual to bind him to Earth and becoming the Elemental Champion in a chaotic universe... a ritual that means he is to be married! Luckily, he has come into the good graces of the exquisite and adventuress Scarlette.Â
Oh yes, and he grows a beard!Â
(Fun fact! Scarlette is also Lucita Marne from The True History of Faction Paradox, and Isobel from the short lived Faction Paradox comic series!)Â
I have to thank @hellmandraws for this post because I had a dream where older Dipper and Pacifica met everyone in the post including Dippy Fresh, and âPassion Pazâ and it was the best thing ever to happen to me!
And I quote:
Fordys Fly: How âbout we help out these cool cats out with totally some sick science and get them back home!?
Dippy Fresh: Righteous! Flippity-Dip-Dip!
Passion Paz: Alright! Paz-alicious!
Dipper: (whispers) This is why I donât let you call me Dippy.â
Pacifica:Â âYou ever call me Paz again and Iâll sue.â
