like of course he'd start twisting under the confines of that. of course someone who tramples over all those symbols and nuances of lmanberg strikes a chord with the guy lmao even if its a conflicted, contradictory one. schlatt's mean and he heckles fundy plenty for himself but he affords him something wilbur never really thought or knew how to- just, like, basic peer recognition. schlatt's entirely willing to treat fundy as a grown man- and i think the actual weight schlatt placed in that is evident with how distraught he is upon the confrontation with fundy on nov16.

those "man-to-man" conversations schlatt would have about fundys loyalties, his commitment to him... were taken seriously. fundy was placed to build manburgs flag, he was on the cabinet, he could listen in on whatever schlatt was doing, as soon as tubbo was executed he was elevated to "right hand man" and he was pleased! he thought tubbo deserved it, that a traitor deserves it... and almost instantly he forces himself to remember that he's a traitor too.

he cuts himself away from the sway schlatt has with him to place himself at wilbur's, spy diary in hand and like. what does he get for it. nothing, less than nothing? he gets a spit in the face, another round of demeaning, and once again disowned. he, himself and his efforts through all of this, once again not taken seriously.

in contrast, fundy's the first person to draw schlatt's actual focus in the camarvan. the first person who gets his attention, and genuine distress and anger about the situation, the betrayals. hell, tubbo doesn't get a moment like that at all during this and quackity jumps in for himself but schlatt sees fundy and he's taken seriously. for the worse!
