Building off of this Mountain hc of mine, Mountain actually becoming smaller… sort of.
Aether’s just flicking through the library one day, studying his own Quintessence bc it’s a big world and even he has a lot to learn about it.
That’s when he comes across thought manipulation.
He immediately knows what he could use it for, and that’s only solidified when he sees Mountain curled up in the tiny nest he built for himself in the bottom of his closet and softly crying to himself.

So Aether sits Mountain down and tells him about what he’s found.
As much as Mountain adores when the pack treat him like he’s the smallest Ghoul going, he always knows he actually isn’t, and that voice is constantly ruining everything and gnawing away at his mind.
So when Aether says he may know a way for that voice to be silenced for brief periods of time, Mountain agrees immediately.
The first time they try it, Aether doesn’t take a lot off of what Mountain usually glamours off his height (the maximum of 1ft from his 7’8” frame), just to test the waters of his own powers.
But even with the couple inches of difference, Mountain hears that voice get slightly muffled.
When Aether tries it next, he makes Mountain believe he’s Swiss’ height.
Slowly they work down the pack until one day, Mountain believes he’s Dew’s height.
He cried in sheer relief that day because that horrid voice was completely silent.
He went to kiss Dew, and Dew simply leaned forward.
In reality, Mountain’s body hadn’t changed at all except for the fact the stress had left him, he looked about a decade younger and more relaxed than ever.
Dew was actually on his tiptoes and Mountain was crouched down, as usual, but his mind was clouded by the Quintessence that told him he was the exact same height as Dew.
When the pack coo at him for how small he is, he believes it.
When he needs to get something high up, his mind can’t fathom actually reaching for it and needs another Ghoul to help.
He actually gets to feel like he’s looking up at his mates and doesn’t feel the strain on his neck as he looks down to them.
Mountain knows he can’t live in this world, and he does agree to seek professional help for his often debilitating insecurity, but when it gets really bad, Aether always knows how to help him.
Mountain just wants to be little sometimes. And sometimes, he gets his wish.

Tall women, you are absolutely gorgerous just the way you are. You are a goddes, and anyone going after you based on your height is wrong. Your height doesn’t make you more masculine. Please do not skrink yourself, and if someone got a problem with your height, they are the ones with the problem, not you. And while we are at it: It’s okay to be higher than your partner. 🌸
I’m so sick of getting taller. I’m 5’7” now and I was only 5’5” last year??? I’m 25 this is just weird. It generally catches me off guard noticing how much taller I’ve gotten as I move around and reach higher shelves, etc.
I was only 4’11” when I graduated high school at 18, didn’t grow for years. Idk why my body is growing so tall now apparently trauma can stunt your growth idk but it’s freaking me out. Being short has always weirdly been part of my identity.
If this continues I will be taller than Charlie Day and I don’t want that, I already outgrew Frank Iero and Patrick Stump. Make it stop.

hey do you have any advice on feeling Negitive with your own height? I know i shouldn't be the one to complain but im 5'3 and lotta people are taller than me and kinds makes me feel weak
As someone who’s 5′3 too, I guess I got some ideas.
Well, you gotta think o’ the positive, not the bad side. Did you know that shorter people live longer, and are less likely to get back probs’? Also, there’s a lot o’ famous people who are pretty short, and people still think they cool!
Like Prince, he was really jammin’, and he was only 5′2! Everyone looked up to ‘em, ya know? Also, if you’re too tall, you can’t be a astronaut! So that mean’ only the short get to go to the cosmos!
There’s a lot o’ benefits to bein’ short, did you know that most Gymnasts and Acrobats are short? It’s hard to perform stunts when you too tall!
Also, those people that are taller than you don’t really look down on you in a bad way, a lot o’ times they don’t even notice, especially when you sit down a lot. Sometimes tall peeps get a ‘bit insecure too!
Ok, I know it shouldn't, but that post with blue being insecure about his height, especially the line "It feels like he’s going to get lost between everyone" just made me think of blue being at eye level with the paps asses, and when they're together he winds up getting face smooshed between different paps' booties. :)
