If what I saw was true and Hermione becomes black in a harry potter film, does that make the original movies not cannon or the new ones not cannon?
Hello,The movies are not the base for the ENTIRE Potter universe, they are an adaptation of the original work, which is the books. Anything that was created by J.K. Rowling HERSELF is canon. So, the play, to me, is more canon than the movies. It doesn’t mean the movies are irrelevant now, they are just another take on the story.
She does not ‘become’ black… She just IS, in the play canon.
Honestly, I really don’t get all the drama surrounding the skin colour of this character… If anything, it makes much more sense to me, with Hermione suffering from Mud-blood prejudices, which echoes racists insults IRL.
