It was great to see and hear many of our families from the Corona Youth Music Project , and that everyone is doing fine. It’s been hard not to be able to connect knowing that our kids and their families are right at the epicenter of the epicenter of the pandemic in the U.S. Adapting to new technology to continue with their remote education, on top of everything else, has made it extra-stressing for many of them. Ellas dos, Itzy y Jadira. Hoy se nos van a Los Ángeles, representando al Núcleo Corona, para participar en la orquesta sinfónica de jóvenes "Take a Stand", con estudiantes de todo el país, que debutará el próximo sábado en el Disney Hall bajo la dirección del Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Todos en el Núcleo, especialmente sus compañeros de la orquesta juvenil de Corona estamos muy emocionados y orgullosos. Felicidades a sus familias y maestros. They are traveling today to Los Angeles to represent CYMP in the "Take a Stand" Youth Orchestra made of students from all over the U.S., and will debut next Saturday at Disney Hall under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Congratulations Helen, Itzy, Britney and José!

We are very proud that three of our students have been accepted this year at Juilliard’s Music Advancement Program (MAP).  Kenya Pérez (Flute, left), James Crespo (Oboe) and Itayetzy (Itzy) Uranga (Horn) were selected among many students in New York City to be part of the program.  We can’t wait to have them share their talent, and new experiences with the Núcleo Corona community!

Our congratulations to Corona’s very own Emilio Hernández (Violin) and James Crespo (Oboe) for their participation in the Take a Stand East Festival Orchestra at Bard College. These two students participated in intensive rehearsals and master classes, as well as Bard celebrated writing workshop for a full week in preparation for a concert conducted by Juan Felipe Molano and Leon Botstein on August 20th 2016 at the beautiful Richard B. Fisher Center for the Performing Arts at Bard.

Thanks to all the teachers: Mariel Bildsten, Erin Ellis, Laura Hutton, Liz Ramirez, Jessica Santiago and Felipe Tristán, to our summer volunteers Julia Clipper, Simon MacKenzie and Jennifer Johnson and to all the mentoring students for all their hard work this summer! 

Our biggest gratitude to our two summer interns Julia Clipper (Flute, Northwestern University) and Simon McKenzie (Viola, Edinburgh University) for their time, dedication and love of teaching.  A piece of you stayed in Corona!  We hope to see you again!

We are excited to announce that two more of our students, members of the Corona Youth Orchestra have been accepted at the Frank Sinatra High School for the Arts.  Congratulations to Brigitte (viola) and James (oboe)!  We look forward to have them continue sharing their talent and new experiences with their younger peers in Corona!
