She reminds him of hot summer days in Antiva City, lying in their bed with only the rare, precious breeze wafting in from the window to cool them. It was too hot to cuddle, but they were too comfortable to move. Zevran would run his fingers through Rinna’s dark curls, and she would look up at him, her plump, blushing lips curled in a wicked smile, and his heart would burn for her. 

She never looked so good as when she was loving him.

        It’s one of the few times he actually slinks down to the first floor of the tavern, and not without reason. Cole was curious, admittedly, drawn in by her aura of confidence hiding so much unspoken turmoil within. He sees crashing waves and hears the creaking of wooden ships, the fluttering of sails. Flashes of gold, warm hands, the cold metal of daggers. So much, so much. She’s like the raging sea.

        She avoids answering him, she always does. She changes the subject so quickly, doesn’t even give him a chance to bring it up again.

        “It’s easier to listen when I’m not down here,” he says, perching himself on a seat across from her. “Everything isn’t as loud.”

        He rubs his hands over his thighs, feeling the rough leather beneath his fingertips, through the material of his gloves.
