Send đ for our muses to have lunch together.
In a city gone to hell, the lawyers needed to stick together. They were the ones left to clean up the mess at the end of the day, even the ones with powers. Especially the ones with powers. People seemed to forget that being a Hulk and having a law degree werenât mutually exclusive; even a former Avenger was never totally out of the game. On the plus side, business was great. Lots of superhero drama made for lots of superhero lawsuits.
Dinah had texted that morning, asking to get lunch, and while it wasnât a total surprise, it was a welcome distraction. At 1:00 exactly, Jen had shut her laptop, grabbed her purse, and called lunch hour. Fifteen minutes later, she had a burrito and a Diet Coke and an excuse to talk about anything other than work.
Except, of course, even as she tucked into the burrito, Jen found herself recounting court stories between bites. It was all she could do these days to not think about Trish; work took precedence, and old habits died hard. Dinah deserved better than to hear Jen whine for an hour.Â
âSo I told him, âIf youâre going to sue Tony Stark, you could at least get a lawyer with an actual degree.â He settled pretty much right away, I didnât need to Hulk out or anything.â Jen smiled half-heartedly and set down her burrito. âAnyway, Iâm rambling. How are you? Howâs everything holding up at Fort Lance?â
