     christine’s eyes lift from her padd ,  and she briefly squeezes uhura’s hand .    ❝ just  -  be more careful in the future ,  hm ?  i’ll be back to check on you in a moment . ❞

for the most part, uhura thinks she’s very good at being a patient. she certainly doesn’t put up the fight that their captain does, and she’s less combative than most. it hardly means she’s happy to be here ; especially when christine looks as worried as she does. uhura has to wonder if the nurse exists like this at all times - a constant edge of worry to her whole demeanour.

❛ yeah? ❜ uhura’s voice is quiet, and she draws christine’s hand upwards ; presses her lips to familiar knuckles, ones that she could draw in her sleep if the mood struck. she knows these hands. she loves these hands. uhura breathes in slowly, smiles gently.

I can’t believe it was too soon! Our head nurse in the medical intensive care unit, Sir Christian Razote, is finally leaving for Singapore. It was very saddening because he is one of my best mentors who hone me to become the person I am today.

He was very strict before when I was still a junior in the unit. Our first encounter was when he asked me if I am already done checking the emergency cart because I will not be allowed to go home if the supplies and medications aren’t complete. It was one of the so-called “junior duties.” Even when I become one of the seniors already, he always kept on reminding me of my duties and responsibilities as a nurse, especially on how to talk therapeutically both to my juniors and to my patients and their families. I admit I cannot control the tone of my voice when I get irritated to someone. He even taught me how to do some paperworks of a nurse manager. I know I can use it in the future. I really appreciate him as my mentor because I can see how hard he tries to do the right thing and to improve our practices in the unit. Since then, I always do what I can to be a competent and compassionate nurse I can possibly be.

I am surely going to miss Sir Christian’s encouraging words. I hope there are still other people who are like him who never gets tired of imparting his knowledge and skills to anyone, and who is always grateful for all the blessings he has.

Wala akong balak kausapin siya. But awhile ago, we discovered that my patient has no ICU consent and they planned to do emergency endoscopy. So how? My charge was the one who talked to him and he went to me asking me why there’s no consent and I just answered him “i dont know” without even looking at him then he asked me who was the admitting charge. He knew who yet still asked me. 😂

When PM shift came, bestfriend came to me asking if we’ll submit out resignation letter and I said yes. I was too busy with my patient, still a lot of things to write even my BT monitoring was not yet done so I asked her if she can just submit mine along with hers. After awhile a staff came telling me that our head is calling me, I said i’m busy. 😆 after sometimes my bestfriend came and said “kari naa kaw karae lang.”

So when I was there he kept on asking why. Thank God, i was calm. 😂 but when i answered him first, he asked me why I’m still sharp? 😆 God. Me and my friend just looked at each other, skeptical. Sharp? 🤔

Then he said my voice. Me and BF just laughed.

Telling him working in a place that doesn’t make you happy and the environment is not healthy anymore, I even reasoned out my mom, telling him that my mom wants me to come home, but these are not enough reasons to him. I don’t know what else to say to him so that he’ll sign our resignation letter. So what should we say to him??

PS. sabi pa niya grupo daw namin masyadong aggressive. 😆 di ko alam why he said that.

But if yung tinutukoy is dahil sa ugali namin, yes we are. I don’t care who you are as long as i feel na you don’t respect me, di din kita rerespetuhin. I don’t believe in the saying na di porke’t wala siyang respeto di mo na siya irerespesto (dapat respetuhin mo pa rin siya.) This is bullshit for me. IF YOU DON’T RESPECT ME, I’LL DO THE SAME THING TO YOU.
