@hdmfanmonth → Week 4 | Favorite book of the trilogy: The Amber Spyglass
In the process of making this my computer fell to the floor and cracked so my photoshop use ended up being limited, but I really wanted to participate anyway, so I’m posting it as it is. Since His Dark Materials is my favorite book series ever and The Amber Spyglass is my favorite book of the trilogy, we could say it’s my favorite book ever. I feel like this book series is a symphony with a myriad of sounds and voices orchestrated perfectly and this is the climax and closure of the whole thing, the moment when the music reaches a crescendo that gives you goosebumps and keeps you on the edge of your seat and then, when it sets you free, you’re not the same person you were when you started. Will and Lyra decline fate to introduce choice, they change the universe hand in hand, Lord Asriel and Marisa Coulter make possibly the most selfless act out of the most selfless reason, Mary discovers, invents and teaches, my lovely angels Balthamos and Baruch show the purest love and the strongest resolve, Iorek becomes a legend more so than a king and just everything ends in that bittersweet taste of an ending that couldn’t have been any other way. I owe a lot to this book series, and to this one specially, because a good book makes you feel but a great book changes you, and this one certainly did it for me.Â
